You certainly won't miss her

Well it seems our holidays are going from bad to worse.
This is what Chloe came home with this afternoon.
Poor Chloe - after three days of trying to hobble around, she felt her foot was getter worse not better so on Wednesday night she asked me to ring our doctors on Thursday and make an appointment to see our own GP. The long and the short of it being that she went for CT scans and X-rays again yesterday only to find out that her foot was indeed broken.

She saw the doctor again today and was immediately sent off to see an Orthopedic Surgeon as not only did she have one broken bone but three - then there was the dilema of whether she needed surgery to pin her foot or whether to try her foot in a cast. After more x-rays and because of some health issues that Chloe has it was decided to put it in a cast first and check it again in 10 days to see if it is healing otherwise they may have to review the surgery option.

She has to rest her foot so already she had laid claim to the recliner and is happy to sit and chat to her mates whilst we do all the running around for her.
We could be in for a very interesting weekend..

Slightly different Holiday this year

Just for my records - this is our School Holidays this September, Confined to bed and here is the reason why
I'm not the only one laid up - at least we make a good pair - whilst I can't sit or bend, I can carry. Chloe can sit and bend but she can't carry.
This is one lot of school holidays we are not likely to forget - especially Steve who has had to wait on us hand and foot ("The Gofa").

Start of the Holidays

Feeling a little flat tonight. I tore a hamstring in my leg at the gym on Wednesday night and will be spending most of my holidays laid up resting so that it will heal. I was to drive to Brissie tomorrow with a friend and catch up with my kids for a few days, but that had to be canned today after visiting my doctor. I feel so disappointed that I an not only not getting to see my kids but am letting my friend down at the last minute also, She has been really understanding but I still feel very disappointed.

I also feel really frustrated that I cannot go back to the gym for at least a month, and being realistic it will probably be longer than that. It seems that just when I get back into a exercise routine something haappens to turn it upside down. This is the third time it has happened this year.

You don't realize how much your whole body is affected when one part of your body is injured. It really gives meaning to the the bible passage in 1 Cor 12

12The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. 13For we were all baptized byc]">[c] one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

26If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

Still although the thought of spending my whole holidays laid up does not appeal to me, I know that God has looked after me. The doctor told me today that I would probably need a couple of weeks off work anyway, so at least this way I don't loose all my sick leave. Secondly Steve will be on holidays so will be around to lend a hand. I will also be able to read to my hearts content without feeling guilty that I am not up doing things around the house. As I am pretty much bed ridden ( can't sit up so can't scrapbook) I will also get to have some much valued GOD time. I must admit I am thankful for my laptop - as I cannot get down the step into my office to my computer there, so at least I will still be able to keep on top of a few things.

I am also blessed in having a wonderful Christian doctor who saw me on her afternoon off, and extra blessed too in that the Physio had a cancellation next week, so could slot me in and I don't have to wait for three weeks to get an appointment.

Thank God for friends - they really do encourage you, I received this email from one of my close friends today. So appropriate for me today especially when I was feeling a little sookie and sorry for myself. It really does help put things in perspective.

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and family will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with The Divine. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; The Divine never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
25. Frame every so-called disaster with these words ''In five years, will this matter?".
26. Always choose life.
27. Forgive everyone everything.
28. What other people think of you is none of your business.
29. Time heals almost everything. Give it time and more time.
30. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
31. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
32. Believe in miracles.
33. People love you because of who you are, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
34 Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
35. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
36. Your children get only one childhood with you.
37. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved and were loved.
38. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
39. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
40. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
41. The best is yet to come.
42. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
43. Yield.
44. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

Super Busy Weekend.

Phew it has been one very busy weekend but a good one. I am so glad that the there is only one more week of work until the holidays. I think we all need the break.
Friday afternoon I got to catch up with these girls.
A couple of the girls were missing but we still managed to have a good time together with plenty of laughs. I really do miss working with these guys but I sure can tell you that I am so glad that we all have a wonderful friendship and we all make the effort to keep in touch. Whilst I was catching up with these guys, I got a phone call from my sister and brother in law to say they wer in town also. They needed a bed for the night - so good to catch up with them also. We haven't seen them for a while so we had plenty to chat about.

Saturday went to hospital to visit the girl I work with. She is on maternity leave at the moment but had just given birth to a beautiful baby girl, so got to catch up with them and meet the very gorgeous "Miss Melina"

It was also our monthly Scrapbooking weekend. The other two girls who organise it with me were tied up at weddings and 30 year school reunions so I had to be there. There were only six of us this weekend. That was good cause I managed to get these layouts done.
Today I got to spend the day with a very dear friend whom I haven't seen for a couple of years. We have been really good friends now for over 33 years. We spent the whole day chatting and catching up on family news. She was in Rocky for her great grand daughters christening. She seems way too young to be a great grandmumma. We did have a wonderful tme together catching up though.
So many things to be thankful for this week.

1. Getting to spend the night with my sister and her family, it was so good to catch up again.
2. Babies - the softness and smell and the innocence of a new life.
3. Catching up with very dear friends - and just picking up the conversation as if we have never been apart.
4. A wonderful husband who suprised me by mopping all the floors and bringing in the washing just to help and surprise me.
5. That Chloe only has another hour to go with her driving and then she will have completed her 100 hours.
6. A happy son
7. The Book of Psalms
8. Girl Fun
9. A pantry of food to share with visitors.
10. Cuddle time.

It's been a great day

It's been a great day too. I feel like I have achieved so much. I had the day off work today as I needed to take Chloe for eye appointments. She has been having a few problems with her eyes this last month or so, so have had lots of visits to the Optometrist and Opthamologist. The infection has healed but there is still some scaling or scaring to the eyes. Need to cut back on the drops now, and need to go back again next week to have her eyes checked again.
Meanwhile between appointments, I got to do a lot at home. I managed to get the washing done, some cleaning and vacumming done.
Had dinner in the crock pot by 9am.
Next I cooked these for lunch and also for lunches for the next week or so.

Also had a friend drop in at lunch time, so served these up with a bit of a tossed salad, with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce. Went over real well. Rest are now in the freezer read for lunches.

Then we made these. Cupcakes. Found a packet of "Snow Balls"at Target on Special this week, so bought some and made cupcakes ( also for lunches) Gave my friend one for her birthday this .evening. She thought they were candles

After cleaning up the mess Chloe and I managed to scrapbook a couple of cards.
Made this card for my friend. It was her birthday today and we all went out to dinner tonight to celebrate.
Made this card for one of the girls I work with. She is such an inspiration - love working in her class. She really has engaged the kids in learning and they are thriving. She is terrific to work with - s0 organised, so justed wanted to make her a little card to let her know that I love working with her and appreciate everything she does for her students.
Chloe joined in and covered this little star bag that we picked up at Spotlight, We have secret sisters at church this year. She made this for her secret sister. I am so proud of her, Normally she doens't see herself as being terrible creative, but I think she has done a lot job of thise little bag and card.

So many things to be thankfu for today.

1. Having a day with Chloe - even though there was a lot of running around, we still got to enjoy each others company.
2. Getting things done at home and feeling like I was on top of things.
3. Pretty and yummy cupcakes.
4. A night out with the girls.
5. Friends
6. Medical Specialists and healing.
7. Great bed and a good night sleep.
8. The word of God.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

"A Father Just Like You"

"I just want you to know
you mean the world to me,
Only a heart as dear as yours
would give so unselfishly.

The many things you've done,
all the times that you were there,
helps me know deep inside
how much you really care.

Even though I might not say,
I appreciate all you do,
Richly blessed is how we feel
having a father just like you."

Wishing you a very Happy Father's Day and a very Happy Birthday Dad. How blessed I'm been to have a wonderful Dad like you. I love you Dad. You are a man of integrity. Your deep faith, and love for us all has been the best possible gift you could have handed on to us - it is the most wonderful inheritance you could possibly leave us and I hope and pray that the things you have taught us will be handed down from generation to generation. Hope you have had the best day.

Also want to wish this wonderful man a Happy Father's Day too.
Our kids have also been very blessed to have the wonderful dad that they have too, and we have had a wonderful weekend celebrating Father's Day. Yesterday, we had a special Father's Day breakfast at the Botanical Gardens to spoil our Wonderful men. The kids and woman all cooked a special breakfast for them and I have some photos to share with you. Steve loved his Father's Day presents and has had fun playing with them today. We went to church this morning, had lunch with some friends, and then Chloe drove us to the beach and we indulged Steve by going fishing with him - not that we caught anything, but that was the thing he most wanted to do with us. Have a few photos of our afternoon.
We have orchids out again at the moment, so just had to take a shot of them to share too. We have some really orchids now - our collection is ever growing. Finally I have scrapped a layout. Well it is not quite finished - just waiting on Chloe to give me some of the names of her friends at school, so that I can document them for her. Not the best photo but it is the first lot of scrapbooking I have done since the last lot of school holidays, and it is only a couple of weeks until we are on holidays again.

Time to catch up

Where has the last few weeks gone - so much going on. Just a quick catch up on life here over the last couple of weeks.

We've been crafting making theseThey soon grow into these and Chloe has been using them as gifts for friends.

They are kinda of cute and you can give them a haircut and it doesn't take long for the hair to regrow.
Steve and I have spent the last couple of weekend together. We went out for breakfast, checked out the new shopping centre in town,

Steve wasn't overly impresses. There were only two stores that interested him and that was Dick Smith and JB Hi Fi, the rest of the new stores were mainly geared at young woman who love clothes shopping.

We stopped here for a cuppa together

headed home and went to the gym together and then that night, we dropped Chloe off at Youth Group and headed out to dinner here. where we enjoyed these. This last week I had a bit of pampering and went in looking like this
and came out looking like this.
Felt really strange - a little to short for my liking but I guess it won't take too long for it to grow again.

This past weekend was busy also. These gorgeous guys came in for a visit

We hit the shops again on Saturday morning and had a real girlie time. Chloe also had the day off and one of her friends joined us too, and then in the afternoon, Steve and I headed
off to the local Home and Travel Show. Were totally blown away at the new and modern caravans - even more so at the prices of them. Heck we bought our house for way less than some of these cost. We saw these amazing Campervans. They folded down into a trailer in less than a minute. It was unbeleivable and they were so light and secure. We were very impressed.
We are starting to plan our big holiday. I know the time will really fly. Where has this year gone.

Sunday afternoon both Chloe and I had a bridal shower to go too. It was a lot of fun. Here is the bride - only 7 weeks until their wedding.
With limited resources we had to perform miracles and dress some brides.
Got to order Steve's Father's Day present on the weekend - had to have a little help from him. It arrived today but he can't play with it until the weekend. Must admit I am looking forward to having a play as well. Here is a sneak preview.
We are enjoying fresh strawberries at the moment. Found this in one of our punnets this week. Looks just like one of the light bulbs in our lounge lights. Chloe was so impressed she thought should have put it on ebay.
Well that is about it from me this week.
