Celebrating Australia Day

On Australia Day we come together as a nation to celebrate what's great about Australia and being Australian. It's the day to reflect on what we have achieved and what we can be proud of in our great nation. It's the day for us to re-commit to making Australia an even better place for the future. After seeing how Aussies have worked together over the last month or so to help and support each other through the horrific floods we have had both in Qld and Victoria, I for one am very proud of being an Aussie this year.

We didn't get to do too much celebrating today. Since coming home from our big holiday, we have been on a mission to get our yard tidied up and get all the rubbish to the city dump, whilst they have waived the dump fees. We did have a great afternoon in the garden together though.

Even though we didn't do any formal celebrating, I still wore the Aussie Cap. I'm very proud to be called an Aussie, even more so this year, after watching so many of our Qlders in particular banding together and helping each other out.

I'm thankful today for

1. This wonderful country we live in.
2. Wide open spaces.
3. Lovely beaches, and blue blue oceans.
4. Freedom of speech in this country.
5. Paid public holidays
6. The sense of community, and a helping hand.

How did you celebrate your Australia Day.... love to hear about it...
