A LOVELY WAY TO SPEND AN AFTERNOON
This afternoon, I went to a fund raiser afternoon tea for the "Our Rainbow House" which is a school for orphaned children in Zambia in Africa...
Our friend Marion held the afternoon tea in her garden in her back yard. It was a wonderful wonderful afternoon and a huge success, and she raised quite a bit of money for "Our Rainbow House". A little more about that at the end of this post....
Marion lost her husband to Cancer earlier this year.... He was a wonderful man, and she is an inspiration to us all as she works tirelessly to give to others even though it has been a tough year for her and her family....
Her garden was beautiful and was the perfect setting for such a lovely afternoon. She had a theme set up as a Mad Hatter's Tea Party and there wasn't a thing spared in terms of setting up the atmosphere. Lots of her friends helped with the baking and the food was wonderful.... There was so much...
Some photos of our afternoon....

There were white rabbits all throughout the garden |
A close up of our table with the clock in the background.. All the clocks were set on 4pm. |
These children are so motivated with their learning too. They LOVE being given the opportunity to better themselves. So different to a lot of the children we have in our schools here in Australia at the moment...

It was founded by Alison Ray, from Emerald QLD, who visited the village of Chainda in 2002 and felt a very strong calling to help this impoverished community. Alison feels she is very blessed to have such a strong group of volunteers who support this charity tirelessly.
Alison with two of her amazing teachers... |
“In 2002, I was privileged to work in a School in its infancy, in Tanzania. Zambia is not too far away, just a short flight, so I thought I would drop by to meet our son’s sponsor child on the way back to Australia.
Felix lived in a village called Chainda where, in those days, there were 30,000 people including 2,500 orphans and vulnerable children living on 5 hectares.
From the moment I stepped out of the vehicle in Chainda, I just knew that was where God and the Angels wanted me to work. It was an overwhelming feeling.
There is a long story in between then and May, 2012 when we opened our School. I do hope to update it soon.
I am blessed with an amazing group of people who have followed me on this path. It would have been impossible on my own, but together we are making a difference in Chainda. Today, there are 26,000 people including 7,800 orphans and vulnerable children. We are educating just 45!
I love our Project and it is so good to be guided to help these people in Chainda and have such fantastic friends and family that support me in making this Charity work”.
An inspiring Lady doing amazing work on the other side of the world. She inspires us to know that one person can make a difference even if it is for just a few children in the world, it is worth it....
It was nice to be part of the afternoon and know that all that we were doing would help to make a difference for these beautiful children....
