A VISIT TO THE LIBRARY..
Have I said how much I love retirement...
I have discovered the joy of reading novels again. I have always loved to read but in the last probably 10 years I haven't done a lot of reading for enjoyment. Initially it was because I had cateracts and couldn't see to well to read especially later in the day when my eyes were tired.
And in the last few years, I haven't more so that at the end of the day I was just too tired.... I would start reading as I went to bed and get a few pages read when I would start falling asleep and I was flat out remembering the couple of pages I had read... Then on weekends, you were just too darn busy catching up on things at home, like house work, washing, shopping cooking...
I am enjoying an afternoon rest with a good book in hand.
On Wednesday I had an hour to kill before an appointment at my old work, so thought I would check out our regional library and get myself a borrower's card.
The Rockhampton Library |
This is a new library for me... just shows how long since I have been to the library, it was built several years ago and this is the first time I have graced their doors...
With COVID it is all a little different at the moment, you must sign in, not a lot of personal contact or help but the girls behind the desk were very helpful, they were just unable to set me up on the computer..
Books have to be returned through a shute outside, still that makes it a lot easier for me as it means they can be returned anytime and not just in opening hours...
I had a good look around inside and found the sections that I think will be my favaourite and I borrowed my first book.
My boss had contacted me about renewing my blue card so I ducked into work to fill out the paperwork. Technically I am still on leave and the door is open for me to go back. With things the way they are at the moment with this Pandemic and the rise and fall of super... it is a good place to be in..
It was nice to catch up with everyone. I loved my job and my time here and the staff are really great people. Whilst I don't miss work itself, and I often wonder how I ever found time to go to work, I do miss some of the people I worked with... It was a nice catch up...
