HOLIDAYING AT BARGARA...
We're heading to Bargara for a week...
Steve's brother and sister in law and their family are coming up for a week to catch up with family. Due to Covid they haven't been allowed in Qld this year as they come from the ACT.
Sarah contacted us a couple of weeks ago to let us know they were coming up so we decided to take the van down and make a holiday of it...
Talking to our other sister-in-law then a week or so ago, she suggested that we all get together for a Latham Christmas luncheon at their place. It is over 30 years since we have all been together...
The weather forecast for the week is not good with torrential rains and gale force winds... Oh not, not good for caravaning and putting out the awning...
We have talked our daughter Sarah into coming up for a couple of days with the children to catch up with all the cousins also..
Unfortunately it was too late of notice for Dan and Chloe as Dan was on call for work all of that weekend.
It was a bit of a rush to get the van ready as we have had such a busy week...
It was close to lunch time before we got away from home. By the time we got to Mirriam Vale for our crab sandwiches, Steve noticed that a couple of the wind in knobs from the awning were missing... We obviously had forgotten to tighten them before leaving home and they are now someone on the highway.
This means we need to make a stop at Jayco in Bundy to get some new ones before heading to the beach...
It was close to 4pm by the time we arrived at Bargara and then we needed to set up. We decided that we would also put up the annex this evening, as this would help stablize our awning with the gale force winds.
It was a bit of a nightmare trying to get the new knobs on the awning arms as we had to put the awning out to be able to attach the new knobs and I must admit it was hard trying to hold it.
It took us a good couple of hours to get it done...
It was after 6.30pm by the time we had it all set up and we both feeling pretty had it, as it was hard work trying to do it against the wind...
When Steve had booked in at reception, they informed him that it was pizza night in the park and that we could order pizza's from the camp kitchen area, so we decided to just do that for dinner this evening..
They were pretty reasonably priced and Steve walked across and ordered one of their specialties... Garlic prawn pizza... He had a 20 minute wait until they would be ready so we cracked open a bottle of our favourite Brown Brothers Moscato wine..
It was nice to just chill out and relax after our crazy week..
Once the 20 minutes were up, Steve walked back over to pick up our dinner. I must say we both enjoyed it....
Anything we didn't have to cook ourselves tasted good...
It tasted amazing...
Steve was hungry, so he ended up eating all of his and half of mine as well... no left overs... We didn't bother to pull out the TV, so we had a pretty chilled out evening and retired early... We have a big couple of days ahead of us...
