MAX HAS A LITTLE HOLIDAY WITH MOPPY AND POPPY...
After Willow's birthday party, Steve and I wanted to head back to the Sunny Coast to get a few jobs done on the house... Whilst Willow was still at school, we decided to take Max with us for a bit of one on one time with him. He was actually quite excited to be coming on a holiday with us and didn't seem too worried at all by the prospect of coming alone...
Willow on the other hand was a little gutted that he would be coming away with us and leaving her at home...
We got away a little after we had taken Willow to school and arrived up on the Sunshine Coast just before lunch. We unpacked and had a bit of lunch and then in the afternoon we took Max down to the Mooloolabah spit for a play on the beach...
When we first arrived, I found a nice spot to sit on the beach whilst Steve took Max for a walk out along the rock wall at the mouth of the Mooloolabah River. Max had his little net with him and wanted to catch some fish and Steve thought you would find some up around the rock area. They didn't have much luck so he then tried to teach Max how to skim stones across the top of the water. He didn't have much success but Max loved throwing the little rocks into the water to see who could get them the furtherest out.
He spent ages add to the sandcastle that I built and then started on building one of his own. Then Steve had him go down to the water's edge to fill his bucket with water to add to their moat. He used to be quite afraid of the surf, but today happily went down to the water's edge to fill his bucket.
We love this special time with our grandchildren. This has been the first time we have been able to take Max away to have one on one time with him, and it worked perfectly because Willow is still in school. We wish we would have had more time to do this with him as he is off to school next year....
Steve and Max spent quite a bit of time heading up and down from the water's edge refilling the bucket. I loved just watching them and seeing the bond they have together...
Steve decided to show Max how to drizzle some sand onto the top of his sandcastle to make higher peaks... He had great difficulty..
From the beach we headed up to the shops across from the playground to buy and ice cream... All that playing on the beach was hard work. Once we had eated it, I took Max for a play in he playground whilst Steve paid a visit to the loo.....
It was well and truly tea time by the time we got home from the beach. A very easy dinner tonight of baked beans, a quick shower and it was time for bed.
Max was so good, no once did he complain about having to have his bath and get ready for bed. He did not even complain when we put him to bed. It must have had something to do with all the fresh sea air but he fell asleep almost as fast as his head hit the pillow....
Big day planned for tomorrow...
