PREPARING TO CONCRETE....
Chloe asked us if we could come down for a few days the week before Christmas... Her husband Dan had a week off before she finished work for the holidays and they wanted to concrete their carport...
She wanted to know if her dad could help Dan to prepare the carport for concreting...
It was a quick trip home from Bargara, unpack the van, clean it out, wash and clean up and then head back down to Brisbane..
It was 6.45pm on the Friday night before we got away and we were feeling pretty tired. In the end we got as far as the Sunshine Coast and pulled into our house there and spent the night there.
It was a good thing we did, as they have had so much rain down there since we were there a couple of weeks earlier, and the gardens were overgrown and the lawn needed mowing, so before we took off the following morning, Steve got up and mowed the lawn and did some poisoning...
It was just before lunch before we finally got away and headed to Brisbane....
There was no rest for the wicked. As we arrived we could see Dan working digging out the old concrete and Steve was straight into it...
It was four days of solid work to get the area prepared for concreting...It is done now and waiting for our return towards the end of January, when the pouring of the concrete will take place..
It was a mammoth job and only finished after sunset on the Tuesday evening before Christmas...
We were all pretty stuffed so decided to go out for dinner...
Dan and Chloe took us to this amazing place on the river... It looked great...
Unfortunately by the time we got there they had ceased serving meals for the evening... It also looked pretty popular as there were still lots of people around...
Still we were impressed and have asked for a raincheck for when we next visit Brisbane...
