LONG TRIP HOME

Still trying to catch up on posts...
We have been home a few days now...
We come home on Tuesday.... the hottest day this week.... temperatures around 40
And we have no air con in the car...
Lesson learnt...
Do not travel in the heat of the day....
In fact for the rest of these holidays.  I think it will be an early start or a late in the afternoon start.
What makes it worse is the traffic delays along the road because of all the road works.
It is two years now since our awful floods and our roads are still in a mess...

The one thing I do love about caravaning though  is that you can just park on the side of the road and you have all the comforts of home.

Our lunch break in Miriam Vale

Lunch by the side of the road
It was so easy just to get our chairs and table out of the van, and sit under a lovely shady tree to have some lunch.... It was so hot in the car,  it was a welcome break to be out of the sun and have a slight breeze even if it was a bit hot.

I worse part of the trip home though was this
Cars ahead of us as far as our eye could see
 and this....
Cars lined up behind us as far as the eye can see
You can just imagine that with a wait of 15-20 minutes on the side of the road and the heat, it was a very slow trip home.... Then you were caught in the traffic and the traffic was travelling at about 80kms an hour which is even slow when towing a van...

We did arrive home though to see this.   Our red frangapeni tree flowering with beautiful red flowers
Our first flowers

Love how they have this tinge of apricot in the centre....
Whilst we were away, we camped next to a lovely English couple who had only been in Australia for a month or so....
They were heading through to Rocky on their way to Mackay to do a house sitting job over Christmas so whilst they were in Rocky we invited them to join us for an early Christmas dinner...
We had a lovely evening with them and I love how caravaning allows you to get to know others and make friends...
The table set for our Christmas dinner.
Sarah has been sending more photos of our beautiful grand daughter, so I feel a post there is coming up, plus I took some time out last night to make a few more headbands which I will share soon.
Countdown to Christmas is on...
Our son is on his way home...
The Puppy is coming to  join us too...
We are all very excited..
She was excited to hop into Pete's car too...
We will miss Sarah Colin and Willow this year though...
