T'WAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Christmas Eve is almost as good as Christmas at our place. Guess we kind of want to make the most of family time.....
We are not all home this year.... It's a Mackay Christmas for Sarah and Colin, and we miss them, but it did not stop the rest of us carrying out our traditions.
We started the day with a breakfast date at The Giddy Goat....

Breakfast together at the Giddy Goat
Most of us still had a bit of last minute shopping to do....so we all took off in separate directions and yet still managed to meet up. in the course of visiting different shops.

We were home just after lunch when we were visited by Chloe's friend Daina's family.  They had traveled all the way up from Canberra to spent Christmas with their daughter, so we entertained them for afternoon tea. It was nice to finally meet them. The girls have become good friends, and Chloe is off on a road trip with Daina's folks after Christmas...

A couple of years ago we started the tradition of a non cooked Christmas Eve dinner,  it is supposed to be prawns and cheese and fruit on the lawn.... last year we held it inside because of a huge storm that passed over on Christmas Eve,  this year it was the heat and showers that kept us in doors.  Still it was  a lovely family evening.

We were on strict instructions to spoil Penny, and I am pretty sure that this constitutes spoiling her....
Penny almost things she is human......
We had a lovely family dinner together
With the works,  prawns, cheese, fruit and wine.....
After dinner we all watch a family Christmas movie together....
Pete thought it would be fun to share a very Penny Christmas with Sarah and Colin and this little puppy was so accommodating as both Pete and Chloe dressed her up to look like a Christmas tree.  Mind you a little bribe of some ham went a long way in helping.....
Our Penny Christmas Tree
She really is such a people's dog... so spoilt... She is just content to be where ever you are.
Content to get cuddles whilst we watched our movie.
This year we kind of diverted a little from a Christmas Movie and watched a movie called "The Way". Quite an inspiring movie based on a true story.... Makes us all want to do a part of the walk now....
Our home is ready for Christmas Now...
Presents wrapped and stockings hung
Our presents are all wrapped and under the tree.....our stockings are hung...
Decorations hung....
And before I head to bed,  the table is set ready for Christmas lunch...
Love the feeling of having it all ready for Christmas, love seeing everything ready
The Table all set
Ready for Christmas lunch
And as we are ready to head to bed.... we take a few minutes to enjoy the lights and reflect of the significance of our celebrations.... the birth of our Saviour....the reason for the season...
All lit up
And then there is just one more task to complete before we lay our heads upon our pillows....
and that is to deliver these out to each of the kids....
Ho Ho Ho.....

 And so it is Christmas.....
