OUR LAST DAY ON THE GOLD COAST

This week has flown...
We didn't have much planned for today..
We had a pretty lazy morning at home in the Unit and then about 11am we left to go find a fabric shop for Jannett to buy some material to do some baby sewing,,,
Whilst we were there we explored the shops around..
Their was a butcher next to the fabric shop, that had some really interesteing herbs, spices and sauces which we all indulged in and ended up buying some of their produce.  Their meats looked amazing and we wish we would have discovered them when we first had arrived.
Never mind there is always next time...

Creative Scrapbooking Shop was also in this area so since most of us were scrapbookers, we decided to check this  store out...   We were very restrained and only bought a couple of things.  they did have a good cardstock deal, where they had packaged 10 sheets of cardstock for $3.  Bargain as this cardstock is usually $1.20 a sheet.  I picked a pack of mostly grey, as you can team a lot of different colours with it.

Lots of new things to see...
Lots of lovely new papers
We found lots of coupon books in our unit back at the Hotel, and the girls had cut out a couple of them that entitled us to a free meal at the Burleigh Heads Surf Club, so after checking out these few shops we headed here...

It was a lovely setting, where you could sit right out over the beach....

The meals were reasonably priced and I ended up having one of these for lunch
Prawn Cutlets with Salad and chips.
 very nice indeed.....

On our way home we decided to check out.
Pacific Fair Shopping Centre
Carolyn wanted to find a Rockmans so that she could find another pair of jeans that she particularly liked.  It must be 20 years since I have been to this shopping centre.... It is HUGE, but we had a wonderful time wandering around here....
We actually sat near a little pond and watched this mother duck with her nine little ducklings...
This shopping centre is very different with beautiful shops indoors like these....

Rockmans was actually situated outside of the main shopping centre, so we enjoyed wandering around and looking at the different shops that were out doors.
It was almost 4pm before we left to head home...
We wanted to get home as Jannett's daughter Lana was joining us and taking us all out to her favourite restaurant on the coast for dinner....

Once we got home I headed across the road for my last visit to the Q1, where once again I went up to admire the amazing views for one last time before we headed home the following morning....

By the time I got back Lana was there, so we got ready and headed to here for dinner
Our dinner destination for our last night on the Gold Coast....
Chiangmai Thai Restuarant - Broadbeach.

It has an awesome reputation with people traveling down from Brisbane just to go to dinner here.  Apparently it has won many awards for it's cuisine, and it currently rates within the top 7 Thai Restaurants in Australia.
The decor was beautiful and the staff were dressed in lovely traditional dress...

Considering it's high rating as a restaurant, the meals were very reasonably prices and a good size.  We ended up only buying three meals to share amongst five of us, and we still ended up taking home a doggy bag with the left overs....
The meals were beautifully set out with them carving flowers and decorations from vegetables to decorate the meals.

One of the dishes bought to us.
We really enjoyed out meal, and in all we had plenty to eat and the whole meal cost us $15 each.  We will definitely go back to this restaurant again, next time we are on the coast....

We finished off our evening with a visit here for desert.....

Hot Chocolate
with little chocolate mint balls...
Once again we were good and only bought one of these to share amongst four of us...
It was delicious...
Our desert treat
It is always a bit of a treat for us to come to somewhere like this...

Max Brenner at Broadbeach...
We don't have one of these at home,  so both times we have been on the Gold Coast, we have made a point of going here as a treat...
it was after 10pm by the time we got home, and Lana still had to head back to Brisbane.  Christine ended up going home with her as we were pretty loaded, and we had planned to leave early in the morning.....

Our last morning on the coast was perfect as far as weather goes.  Although it has been cold all week, the weather has been perfect with clear blue skies all week.
For the last time, I sat out on our balcony drinking in the amazing views, and feeling a little sad as this lovely holiday comes to an end.  I did manage to capture some more photos of our last hour on the coast.
Enjoying the views for one last time...
Suitcases are packed and it is time to go....
It was a wonderful week away with wonderful girls... I feel so incredibly blessed to have such wonderful people in my life and to live in this wonderful country in which we live...
a HUGE THANK YOU to you Jannett for organising this wonderful week away... I feel so blessed to call you my friend....

I am sure we will do it again.....
