SNAPSHOTS OF SOME OF THE DAMAGE FROM CYCLONE MARCIA....

Last post on Cyclone Marcia...
These photos weren't all taken by me, but they provide a good look at our city and some of the damage that has been done...
Cyclone Marcia in a nutshell...
These photos are in no particular order

Our place
Still our place... You can see our front windows now...

Power lines down everywhere
Over 60000 homes were without power.  Ergon has done an amazing job restoring power to all but about 4000 homes in this past week.  We are indebted to their hard work as they have worked 24 hours a day seven days a week to make sure that we can return to normality as soon as possible.
Metal twisted as signed completely bent over or where destoyed.
There were long queues for Ice and fuel.  some people queued for more than two hours.
I must admit,  I was very thankful for a husband who was well prepared.  We did not have to do this at all.  We had our generator so could run the fridge the whole time, and Steve had already stocked up on feul before the cyclone.  It didn't worry him to stock up because we will be having a week away fishing in a months time, so he figured he could use the fuel than anyway if he didn't need it now.

Yeppoon coped it far worse in terms of homes damaged or destroyed than what we did in Rockhampton itself.
Great Keppel Island
They have suffered quite a bit of damage on Keppel Island especially with erosion...

The Ergon guys have done an amazing job.  Doesn't matter what time of the day or night it is you can see guys up poles trying to get people reconnected.  Friends of ours got their power on at 2am this morning...
Ergon working hard to restore power...
They are stockpiling the debris from south Rocky at the Showgrounds...
Some of our helpers around town with chainsaws have done a bit of fancy artwork too on some of the stumps that are still left standing...
When you look at the amount of time that has come down in this cyclone it is really sad to see it all being munched up and sent off.

How nice it would have been if some of our very old trees (some in excess of 100 years old) were able to be salvaged (timber that is) and something made with it to commemorate the lives of these lovely stately trees that we have now lost....
Yachts  were destroyed and wrecked on the coast
The massive clean up is still underway...
Our streets are still a mess with debris still waiting to be collected  off our footpaths...
