OUTBACK QLD TRIP - DAY 13 - BRISBANE TO HERVEY BAY

On the road again this morning....
Willow woke early and joined us in bed for early morning snuggles.  We really didn't mind at all as it was our last morning with her and we really needed to be gone a little after 8.00am so that we could get on the road and be on the Sunshine Coast for morning tea and lunch...

I love the fact that even though we don't live close to Willow, that she still chats with us almost daily and loves to spend time with us.  This morning she had a ball with her Poppy playing with a balloon.....

She has been our little shadow all morning.  She was pretty keen to come on holidays with us.  She wanted to come stay in the caravan with us.  If only.......
One of the other things that Willow loves is Moppy's iPad, so when she wanted to play a game on it,  how could this Moppy say no....

I love that she shares real interest in new learning environment.

We left Sarah's about 8.15am to head to Ian and Kathy's to pick up the van and get back on the road once again.  I was very sad to be leaving Sarah's, because I love spending time with them, and we really hadn't been here that long.

We had promised my Dad though, that we would be on the coast later this morning and would take him to lunch.
On the Gateway Motorway...
You know you are in the city when the traffic is banked up like this....

Going through the Toll
We had a pretty uneventful trip through to the Sunshine Coast.  In fact we got there earlier than we had expected which was a nice surprise for Dad....
Because we got there at least half an hour earlier that he expected, we went and took him for a cuppa at Macca's.  It is one of his routines each day, so we were happy to accommodate him.

Both Steve and Dad went off to have haircuts and then we took Dad to Sizzlers for lunch.  A bit of a treat for him....

Steve was pretty tired after lunch,  we had been up since 5.30am enjoying a precious little girl, so he thought he might have a quick nap before we took off so that he wasn't tired whilst driving.  He had a half hour nap and we took off around 2.45pm.

It was a pretty good trip through to Hervey Bay.  The weather was good,  a little stormy, although we didn't get any rain.  Just cloudy and cooler so it was nice to travel in.

Love the highway around Pomona where it is heavily treed....
Not sure what is happening here but he has been caught in the act of being over the double lines...
Found the heart on the hill again around Gympie.  So different from the last time we drove through, with the darkened skies...

Better view.... still not sure what it is...
Obviously they have quite a bit of rain lately around the Sunshine Coast.  They had two big storms both nights we were in Brisbane.  You can tell by how lush and green the countryside is around here.  It is just a pity that the rain they are getting here is not falling out west.

There were obviously storms around and we did see quite a bit of rain falling in the distance but it was never where we were driving.  We were pretty thankful for this, because we noticed in Brissie that the van had a leak, so we need to do some repairs when we get home.  Big job ahead...
Gympie to Maryborough
Enjoying the contrast in scenery after what we had driven through in the Outback...
The famous big "Ned Kelley" as we passed through Maryborough.
Bushranger territory....
We arrived later than we expected and we were able to book in just before the office closed when we booked into the Happy Wanderer Village in Hervey Bay.   We had stayed here last year when we had a few days in Hervey Bay,  we knew the van park and enjoyed our stay here last time.  For a few dollars extra you can have an ensuite site and they are really lovely,  very roomy. and right at the back of your van.

Also it is pretty close to my cousin and his wife's beach holiday house and the boys were wanting to catch up to go fishing.  We had a pretty chilled out night.  Set up the van, and quickly ducked down to the supermarket to replenish out fridge, home for dinner, and we actually set up the TV for the first time these holidays.  It was an early night for us where we just chilled out watching a little Tv.
