HEADING TO BRISSIE FOR A FEW DAYS....

What a crazy last week of work...
We are obviously getting old, as we just don't have the stamina that we used to have...
Our head tells us one age but our body a different one....
We thought we would take off to Brissie to surprise Pete when he arrived back in Australia...
Two years is a long time not to have seen him and we couldn't stand the thought of him being  in the country for a whole week before we got to catch up so we headed down to welcome him home...

Initially we planned on leaving straight after work on the Friday but it soon became apparent that we were not going to be able to do that.  Our last week was hugely busy with graduations, and farewell dinners, and we still had a heap of work to do at home...
We ended up leaving Saturday morning, and a good hour later than we had planned as the alarm didn't go off.

This put a little pressure on us as we were to go to Willow's ballet concert that afternoon...
It just meant very few stops on the way down.  In fact it meant just one stop for fuel, and a quick bit to eat... All this happened in under half an hour, and we arrived an hour and a half before the concert.  Cutting it a bit fine... but we made it.....

We had a pretty good trip down...
Not a lot of travel...

Beautiful road and amazing clouds...
Qld roads have improved greatly since the 2011 floods....
Our only stop was in this beautiful park in Gympie where we feed the ducks as we had lunch.....
Our Lunch stop in Gympie

We had packed a few left overs from the fridge at home,  so we were able to slap together a quick dinner roll, and some flavoured milk for our lunch...
It was nice to feed these fellows too who hung around and entertained us....
Feeding the birds...
Hand feeding the ducks...

I wanted to feed the ducks more than the birds, as they seemed a little shy, and the jolly birds would come and snatch the food right out of their mouths if they weren't careful..

Feeding the ducks...
He took it straight out of my hand...
We didn't hang around for too long,  we had a ballet concert to attend, so it was back into the car and back on the road.....
