DAISY HILL KOALA CENTRE

Pete and Maria and the girls spent a few days on the coast and got back yesterday....
They have one day left in Australia before flying home....
It is terribly sad as we had waited for so long for their visit and now it is almost over....

Yesterday afternoon we decided to take the girls to the Daisy Hill Koala Centre for one last look at our very cute and cuddly Koalas.  We were so fortunate.  The one Koala who was actually being housed at the time put on a wonderful performance for the girls, climbing up to the top of the branches right next to where we were standing and then posing for us all to get some great photos of him....

Willow just loves the big girls and is happy to spend every waking moment with them.

Willow really wanted Dudi to come in the car with us..... She has really taken to the girls, which is great because it means when we all go to Denmark later in the year she will be at home with familiar folk...

There is quite a walk along a raised boardwalk to get into the Centre from the carpark.

It is set in Daisy Hill Conservation Park, and not only does it house the Koala Centre but you get to see lots of other birds and wildlife also....

Checking out the Native Bee Hive....
The main resident Koala Harry, has been quite sick so they are still treating him with Antibiotics...
We were then when he had to have a dose and I don't think he liked it at all...
It was all for our benefit though, as it sent Harry into overdrive trying to get away from her....
close up and personal with Harry
happy snappy - great viewing point...
He went scurrying up the gum tree much to the delight of the girls who had only seen the sleepy version of Koalas so far.

Not happy with this so he takes off

He is gone...
Out on a limb
Too many way too good photographic opportunities to waste by not taking these amazing photos of Harry....

The Daisy Hill Koala Centre is a great interactive centre with plenty of displays and information on Koalas.  There is also a kids section, where they have brochures that children can collect and colour in...  Willow loved this area and was quite happy to sit and colour in one of the many printables they had there for children...
She loves to draw and colour in...
It wasn't long after we took all of our photos that Harry curled up and went back to sleep...
He remained like this for the rest of our visit to the Daisy Hill Koala Centre...

Just off the second floor, there is a landing that takes you out on a timber board walk so that you can climb up to a platform that looks over the Conservation Park.  Of course we all trouped up there to see what we could see

The Koala Centre is situated in lovely surroundings and it was great to see so many people using the park and facilities... Great place to hold a family picnic too....

On our way out of the park we noticed a blue tongue lizard crossing the road... So Steve stopped so that we could show Dudi it.  She managed to see his blue tongue but we weren't able to snap a photo of it...

We got home just after 4pm, and Willow was keen to take the girls for a walk down to feed the ducks, so they wandered down there and found a mother duck with her little ducklings....

Another great day had by all...
