A FEW DAYS OFF.....AND A VISIT TO THE MUSEUM

Our son is home from Denmark for five days, so I decided to take a few days off work and fly to Brissie to spend some time with him and to also catch up with the grandchildren....
Pete was best man for his mates wedding on the Saturday so he was pretty busy until after the wedding...

Sarah was given a three hour pamper from her work as a Christmas Present and hadn't had a chance to take it as she was heavily pregnant when she got it.,.

I offered to take the children for the morning so that she could be pampered.  She enjoyed the time out and I enjoyed being able to do some fun things with our beautiful grandchildren.

My friend Kathy joined us.  We decided to take the children to the Museum in the morning....
Willow had a wonderful time.  She really enjoyed her visit to the museum and we spent most of our time in the collections and then the Dinosaur section...

Checking out the drawers in the collections
She was really fascinated by the different beetles, butterflies and moths she saw in the drawers

I was really amazed at how engaged she was in this section of the Museum.  She is only three and we spent a good hour and a half in the museum without her getting bored at all...

Reading some of the books with Kathy
She enjoyed looking through the non fiction books in this part of the museum..

We found some items from the older days.  The old way of washing your clothes.  Willow thought it was a musical instrument.  We also found a display of toys from back in the 1950s.  She was fascinated by some of them, especially when Kathy and I told her they were the sort of toys we played with when we were little

We walked around then and looked at all the displays of the stuffed animals.  Willow was fascinated by the flying fish,,,

flying fish - these fascinated her..

Next we came across a microscope and Willow spent ages adjusting it and studying some old bones that were there... She really amazed me with her level of engagement.  She spent quite a bit of time using the microscope and enjoyed looking at the different bones and rocks.
Using the Microscope
She could check it all out on the big screen in front of her...
Next she hoped onto the computers
I am amazed at how well she can use this thing and how engrossed she was into everything se put in front of her.

Checking our the swordfish jaws
Then we moved off to the Dinosaur section of the museum...

Checking out the big dissausers skeltons
Looking out the window at the big dinosaurs below...
 Beautiful Maxie....
Loved having him with us...
He is such a happy little boy and is always smiling,...

After spending a couple of hours in the museum, we went and had a coffee before heading off for lunch.
Willow enjoying morning tea with us.
We then went off to find a nice area where we could all have a picnic lunch.
We had actually packed our lunch ney.to save a little money..
Will post our visit to the State Library in my next blog post....
