OUR EUROPEAN HOLIDAY - DAY 13 - HEADING TO SWEDEN TODAY....

We had ordered breakfast for 7.30am this morning in the ope of getting on the road early as we didn't want to arrive home to late as Dan and Chloe have an early flight to catch in the morning....

Breakfast was lovely, fresh juice, fruit, black sausage, salmon, cheeses, jams, ham, breads and scrambled eggs.  Our meals have always been served in the big formal dining room in the house and at each meal we have been served on a different table setting.  It has all felt very regal...

By the time we got everything and everyone in the cars and got going, it was closer to 9am.  Pier Eric and his wife seemed genuinely sad to see us go and they told us several times that they would miss us.  They certainly have scored a 15/10 from us for their hospitality as they always went well and truly above and beyond in looking after us.

Before leaving Ski we went for a drive down the road from our accommodation to see the beautiful lake.  This is a beautiful area of the country and we would definitely love to return to Ski some day...

The countryside into Sweden whilst pretty was definitely not quite as luscious as the journey through Norway a couple of days earlier.  Just after crossing the border into Sweden, we traveled over this bridge which overlooked some of the most majestic scenery.  On the other side of the bridge was a rest area with a big cement hand pointing to another road.  We thought it might have been a lookout.

After visiting the restrooms we drove along the road to check out the view.  Wow what a treat.  The views were amazing, and there was a real story to this spot.  We spent a good hour here enjoying the views whilst Sarah fed Max.
We took off heading for Gothenburg which was to be our next stop in Sweden.  We planned on making this our lunch stop....
I had done quite a bit of research on Monstrum playgrounds, and it just so happened that they had this wonderful Monstrum whale playground in Gothenburg, so we thought this would be a great place to stop for lunch,  it would allow Sarah to feed Max again and allow Willow to run off some of her energy.
This park was amazing,  it far exceeded our expectations.  It had everything you could possibly think of and more... the most amazing slippery slide down the side of a hill, it had a water play area, climbing apparatus, music, drama, wet water play, cubby houses, trampolines, obstacle courses, ropes, painting area.  It even had a train that took children for rides around the park.

Willow absolutely LOVED it here and the rest of us wished that we were children once again.  It didn't stop most of us though from enjoying at least some features of the park...  We found it really hard to leave this park... Willow certainly didn't want to leave and it was after 3pm before we left and we still had quite a drive before we would arrive back in Denmark.

We continued our drive thought towards Malmo until we noticed that Sarah needed to refuel again.  Steve found a service station near a Macca's so we decided to fill up there and also to feed the children and early dinner, and also to give them a little play break again .  We were here for probably an hour and it was back on the road again....
The last part of our journey was mostly flat and at times near the coast.... The scenery was quite lovely in this part of Sweden....
Crossing the bridge from Malmo to Copenhagen
Bridge from Sweden to Denmark
Getting ready to go down into the tunnel
Also in Copenhagen...coming out of the tunnel.
One of the highlights of the day for us was crossing the huge bridge  and tunnel between Malmo in Sweden and Copenhagen in Denmark.  It is pretty expensive to cross with the toll being around $70 per vehicle...

We arrived home in Copenhagen to find that Dudi and Hanna (Maria's sisters) were already at Pete and Maria's and they had cooked us a wonderful hot meal, with special ice cream for desert.  What a treat it was for us all as it was quite late by the time we arrive home, and it allowed Sarah to get the children bathed and into bed...

It had been a long but wonderful day....
