DAY 15- CHILLING OUT AT THE DEVIL'S MARBLES

Today was our first real rest day since being on the road....
We are not going anywhere...
Steve and I were both up before sunrise....
We wanted to experience the Devil's Marbles at both sunset and sunrise.  We saw it at sunset yesterday so were keen to get a few photos today as the sun came up.

Taken just before the sun came up

Waving to Steve - our van taken from the top of the ridge...

Steve climbed up to the ridge above the camping ground to get some good photos,  I joined Barb for an early morning cuppa since she was up and sitting outside...  It was pretty cool this morning.

Steve managed to get some awesome photos...

Photographing the sunrise
The whole country side was bathed in the most incredible light.  You really do need to be there to experience it.  Pictures just do not do it justice.

Unbeknown to me Steve Kathy and Ian took off for another walk,  I was a bit disappointed I didn't know as I was looking forward to an early morning walk.  This place is quite magical early in the morning...

Beautiful wild flowers in the NT.
They got back from their walk around 9am so we had a late breakfast.  Steve cooked himself a big bowl of porridge whilst I had a some of our special Danish muesli  and fruit.  Quite yumm.

We all set off for another walk somewhere just after 10am and headed out for another direction to see if we could find some of the split rocks.    All of us bar John went on this walk.  He was  busy trying to finish off a few of the little jobs that he had to do to set them up for camping....

Amazing rocks...
Kathy and Barb
Just amazing how some of these rocks are just split in half
Just balancing
He's trying hard to move it but it just won't budge
Looking back to the campsite,  but a great backdrop with the marbles there.
Steve riding an elephant ( well actually a termite mound
Some of the lovely wildflowers
We even found old bones
beautiful grevillias
giant foot with all the toes...
Giving him a helping hand

There were millions of flies out here... quite annoying really  and poor Barb obviously wore the wrong coloured shirt because they just loved her...
The flies just loved Barb

After our walk we came back and had some lunch and then in the afternoon, Barb and I both decided that we were going to crochet an outfit for one of the termite mounds we would come across somewhere in the Northern Territory.  So out came the wool and crochet hooks and we spent a couple of hours getting started on our new project.
Starting on our crocheting to dress a termite mound
We were supplying desert for dinner tonight, so I decided to make a lemon cake...
Steve is still one big kid and of course he made sure that he got to lick the beaters and bowl.

We used the Webber to cook it.  He has quite mastered cake cooking now and each time they turn out really well....

When Steve had climbed up to the top of the ridge this morning to see the sunrise, he thought the walk up was managable for me, so to end our stay at the Devil's marbles,  I decided that I would have a go at climbing to the top of the ridge to watch the sunset.  I was quite proud of myself that I was able to do it...
Yah.... I made it to the top.......

Sunset
We were quite amused that someone would take up a camp chair to the very top of the highest rock to watch the sunset.  Of course we had to photograph it.  We weren't the only ones.  This guys amused a lot of folk staying at the Marbles.
And so ended our stay at the Devil's Marbles....
We loved our time there and we will be back.
And so the sun sets on our final day here...
