DAY 180 - A DAY OF RECOVERY

Today was our last day with the Danish Girls.  They were flying back to Brisbane this evening.  The girls wanted to go do some shopping and get new outfits for New Years Eve.  Steve and I were happy to chill out at home in the morning.  This meant a sleep in and a leisurely breakfast for us and then we tackled the washing.  I wanted to get mine up to date as we had an early start the following morning for our hot air balloon ride and we were to be leaving early the following morning.

I also wanted to do Chloe’s for her as they have no washing facilities at their apartments and have to go to laundromats to get their washing done and this chews up hours of their time on weekends.  It was much cheaper to do it at the caravan park, and so it was one of the little things I wanted to do for them before we left.

The girls spent the morning shopping in Melbourne city itself.  Julia wanted to get some digital curls in her hair whilst here but they weren’t prepared to do it for her because of the colour of her hair.  Even though she is naturally blonde, she felt the hairdressers thought that it was dyed.

We had an hour or so with the girls before we had to drive them out to the airport for their flight back to Brisbane.  It was so nice to catch up with them and include them as family for our Aussie Christmas.

After dropping the girls at the airport we took Chloe with us back to the caravan park so that we could collect our washing and also pack a few clothes for our overnight stay at Dan and Chloe's.

We needed to be up at 3am in the morning for our Hot Air Balloon Ride over the Yarra Valley, so they felt we would save some time if we all went together.

Once we gathered all our gear, we headed back to Chloe’s place to wait for Dan to finish work.  They wanted to take us out for dinner tonight to one of their favourite little restaurants just around from where they live. The Bird & Fire is a lovely Mediterranean restaurant that do amazing ribs and Chicken Parmigiana and both are very reasonably priced.
We enjoyed a lovely evening here together, and Dan and Chloe spoilt us by not allowing us to pay.  After we left here we ended up at Cold Rock for a tasty ice-cream desert.  It was after 10pm before we got home, and then it was a mad rush to get in and have our showers so that we could climb into bed ASAP.

We had Saganaki for an Entree
Chloe and I enjoyed the Chicken Parmigiana
Steve had the lamb ribs -  they were a little on the fatty side...
Dan had the beef ribs andd they were amazing..
Alarms were set for 3am the following morning as we had to be up and be ready to be on the road by 3.30am for the hour drive up to the Yarra Valley for our hot air balloon ride at 4.30am.

It is so nice to spend time this time with Dan and Chloe in Melbourne.  We are so enjoying their company and just seeing them interact with each other.  Just watching them and listening to their banter as they cook and work together.  Feeling so incredibly blessed by the in laws that we have in our family.  They are all amazing young people and we feel so blessed that they are part of our family.
