QUICK TRIP TO BUNDY....

We had a quick trip to Bundy this past week.  We were only supposed to stay overnight but ended up there a little longer than we planned.  More about that later...
The reason we went was to catch up with Steve's brother and his wife and family who live in Canberra but were up holidaying with Steve's parents.  It is over 12 months since we have seen them, so thought we would head down to spend a few hours with them and catch up on all their family news.

Enjoying ice-creams on their family holiday last week...
We left home early last Tuesday afternoon and arrived in Bundy around 4.30pm.  Sarah had booked us all in for Dinner at "The Waves" Club ( they had a play room for the kids) and they met us first at Steve's parents where we got to catch up for half an hour or so before heading out to dinner...
I still can't believe that I didn't get a photo of us all together...

The meal was lovely.. huge but well priced and I am sure we will visit here again some time we are in Bundy.

Well we had a safe and uneventful trip down, but heading home from dinner, we turned into Takalvan  Street and as Steve went to change up to third gear, suddenly the clutch went straight to the floor and we had no gears.  We literally had to coast on home and I am sure that it was a god thing, we did coast right into Steve's parents driveway before the engine stopped....

We were feeling a little peeved, as we had a new clutch put in the car only six months ago so of course we were imagining the worst and we would need a new one....
Not much we could do that night, we just had to leave it locked in the driveway for us to investigate the following morning...

Steve rang our mechanic in Rocky and he gave us some ideas of some things we could do to actually find out what the problem was.  Steve took off with his Mum to get some brake and clutch fluid to see if he could find out what the problem was.  It turns out we had done the master clutch cylinder and would need to call out a tow truck to take our car off to be repaired...

We found a place to get our car fixed, and they needed to order a part in from Melbourne so it wouldn't be here until the following day, so Steve arranged for the tow truck to pick up our car the following morning and deliver it to the garage.
Bit sad to see our car being towed away.
Steve borrowed his Dad's car so that he could follow the car to the garage and have a chat to them.  The part had been ordered the previous day and it did arrive on time, but unfortunately, it was the wrong part and wouldn't fit our car.  Such a blow.
Before heading home Steve decided to go and check out "Grunsky's, the Seafood Market" as his brother had told him about some great crab-pots that are for sale there.  AS Steve lost a couple because of the current on the fishing trip they had just come home from, he was keen to replace them and check out these new ones his brother had sworn by.
The Burnett River, early in the morning..
Once he got there, he resized that he couldn't buy any as he didn't have is wallet, he had left it back home in Rocky.  He really did enjoy the serenity of the river so early in the morning... and was keen to bring both his Mum and I back for morning tea or lunch so that we could enjoy it also.. (secretly I think he just needed my wallet to get his new crab pots)

Still we appreciated his thoughtfulness in wanting to take us out and we did have a lovely time there.
Grunksky's for Lunch
Amazing fresh seafood...
Delectable deserts.

One of my favourite pies.
Mum and I enjoying our Scallop and Smokey Bacon pie with chips and salad..
Steve's Mum and I enjoyed the beautiful Scallop and Smokey Bacon Pie.
This pie was amazing.  It had 15 fresh scallops in it so was loaded fresh seafood.  So yum
Steve's Honey and Sesame Seed prawns.
Even this was great value with a dozen prawns being on his plate...

Enjoying our meal

The food was amazing, although we had already ascertained that as the restaurant was full.  The meals were reasonably price ranging from $20 to $25 each.

After lunch, Steve's Mum wanted to buy some fresh prawns to take home and Steve wanted to get a few new crab pots to replace the ones that drifted away in the current.

We then went for a walk around the grounds.
Bundy Belle Boat tour.
They do a two and a half hour boat cruise up to the mouth of the river and it only costs $25 eac.  I didn't think this as too expensive and it is one of the things I  would love to do n the not too distant future/

It was after 2pm by the time we left... Steve ended up buying himself some new beaut crabpots before we left.  He justified them by telling me he had to replace the couple that went missing whilst they were up fishing the week before.  He lost two, but ended up with four new ones.  Not sure how that maths works.
Steve's old Stchool - East Budnaberg State School

As we left Grunskys, we drive past Steve's old primary school.  The building hasn't changed at all, even though it is no longer a school.  For memory sake I had to take a couple of photos.
On our way home we thought we would drop into the garage and see if the part for our car had arrived.  Just as we arrived out front, we got a phone call from them informing us that the part had indeed arrived but it would not fit our model car.  This created a major problem for us, as to get a new genuine part would take five days to arrive, and we needed to be back in Rocky the following day....

On our way back to Steve;s parents place, we were contemplating what we would do when we drove past the railway station.  I suggested to Steve that perhaps we should stop and find out what time the train left the following day as I figured we would be too lat to catch it today.

Steve ducked in quickly to find out that the train was due to leave Bundy in 10 minutes, but unfortunately today, it was actually running a good half hour late...  Praise God.  It gave us  a few extra minutes to race back to Steve's parents and throw all our gear into our cases and head back down to the station again.  We arrived back with about 10 minutes to spare....

A new adventure.  I can't remember the last time that Steve and I caught a train anywhere together...

We're on a train travelling home

It was a pleasant trip home, and went pretty fast until we got to Mount Larcom, when we suddenly seemed to slow right down.
We enjoyed a couple of hot chocolates on the ride home.

We also enjoyed some lovely views of the countryside as we traveled home.  Different to what we see when we drive this stretch of the road...  All in all it was an enjoyable trip home.
We were fortunate that Karen a really good friend of mine was due to have dinner with us as she was in town for the night....
Dinner guest - so glad to see this lovely lady
It turned out that she ended up picking us up from the train station,  we stoopped off at Red Rooster to grab some take away for dinner and Karen joined us.
Well it certainly was a different few days to what we had planned, but they were good days and we enjoyed our time in Bundy.
