AMY'S HIGH TEA BABY SHOWER.....

It was a beautiful afternoon for a Baby Shower today...

It was finally nice to be able to do something special for my friend Dorothy's daughter Amy.  Amy missed out on a wedding this time last year when Covid hit and wedding numbers were reduced to 5 people attending....  Having just lost their best man and future brother in law in a horrific accident, these guys decided that life is too short and too unpredictable so they were just going to get married anyway so that they could enjoy living their lives together.

Therefore,  it was lovely to be able to make a bit of a fuss over Amy today as they await the birth of their precious child which is due in about 7 weeks time...

As Amy and Josh had decided not to find out the sex of their baby before birth, we decided to go with a High Tea Baby Shower, and make it about spoiling the Mummy to be....

Whilst we were away down on the Sunny Coast, the girls asked me to come up with an invitation for Amy's baby shower, the brief being that they wanted to use pastel colours and to make it a high tea, and I came up with the above invitation that they loved.

Other than helping bag little biscuits for putting in the Thank You gift for everyone, I didn't have much input into this Baby Shower at all this time.  My good friend Ann though excelled herself with the organisation and the whole afternoon went off without a hitch.

They really did the most amazing job decorating for the Baby Shower...

These looked amazing strung from the ceiling...

All up there were about 40 woman attending and they had set the room up with 7 tables, all decorated beautifully with a teapot of flowers on each table along with a jar of lollies which was there for a guessing game during the afternoon.  We were all allocated to a table with a lovely seating arrangement stand....

Dorothy and Ann had made little thank you gifts for everyone which consisted of a little packet of mini shortbread biscuits along with a speciality tea bag so that we could come home and enjoy a cup of tea with a few little biscuits.  They were so beautifully done up that it will be hard to want to use them....

There were lots of beautiful flowering pots of plants around the room to give it that real garden tea party feeling.

They had created a lovely back drop with a beautifully decorated table for the presents and a lovely white wicker chair for Amy to sit in whilst opening her presents.

Because of the strict Covid Rules, it was decided to make up individual plates of food for everyone, and we had two of the very young girls from church wheel around to each table where a lovely assortment of goodies were delivered....

One of the first things Amy did was cut her baby cake which was beautifully made and decorated by Kayla, the wife of Amy's cousin Tony.

One of my jobs then was to photograph each table so that Amy had a record of all those that had attended.

We played a few table games at each table,  one was identifying all the High Tea items on a picture, second we were given a list of emoji's to work out the Nursery Rhyme, and then to list 10 famous bears.  The games were great, not too hard so that you couldn't work out the answers, but just hard enough so that your table could all work together to come up with an answer...

Each table also had a jar of lollies on them, that we had to guess who many were in the jar. We all guessed and then the person closest to the correct answer got to keep the jar of lollies..

The winning tables for the games were also given chocolates to share at the table along with a gift that was to be resented to Amy..

Individual plates of the baby cake were then served to us all whilst Amy than opened the gifts that she had received...

Amy was really excited with all the beautiful gifts that she had received and also a little overwhelmed by everyone's generosity.  She made the comment that this was the most gifts she had ever received in one sitting.  I guess by not having a proper wedding where everyone was invited, she missed out of wedding presents so it was beautiful to see her enthusiasm and appreciation for everything thing everyone had done for her...

It was a lovely afternoon, made even nicer by the beautiful surrounds we found ourselves in, and I am sure that everyone enjoyed themselves....
