DAY 3 - MORE EXPLORING AROUND AGNES WATERS TODAY...

The weather report for the next few days wasn't good and as we were leaving on Friday morning we wanted to get a bit of washing done whilst the sun was still shining to dry it, so we all headed to the laundry this morning to get our washing done...

Whilst we were there and waiting for some machines to free up, we met another lovely lady waiting for her washing to finish washing..  we got talking to her and she was telling Barb about their A van and how convenient it was to store and tow, which really got Barb's attention as they realized just how much work was involved in setting up and packing up their tent and the tent really was very impractical for overnight stays anywhere...

She invited Barb to come and check theirs out around lunchtime when they were due home from their little excursion this morning...

Once our washing was done we had a little walk down onto the beach and then us girls decided to go check out the little coffee shoe that was located  in the grounds of the caravan park.  We wanted to hang around until our washing was dry and we could get it off the line before we headed out anywhere...

It was around 10.30am when we headed to the little coffee shop...

By the time we had finished our coffee our washing was pretty much ready to be taken off the line, so we headed back to the van to get our basket and peg bag so we could collect our washing.

Once we had that home and folded, we all had a quick bit to eat and then we all headed off to do some exploring around some of the beaches at Agnes.

Whilst us girls had coffee in the morning, Steve had taken off on a big walk along the beach and around one of the headlands, so he was pretty keen for us to explore some of what he had seen.

The Discovery Trail Lookout Loop is a 1.6 kilometer loop trail located just down the road from the Caravan Park we were staying at.  We drove up and parked behind the Museum on Spring Road. From here the trail takes you through stunning bush land to the Lookout which overlooks both Agnes Water Beach and Workman's Beach.

Once you reach the end you are greeted with spectacular views of both Agnes Water and Workman’s Beach and beyond from a timber lookout point.  Whilst we were at the lookout, Steve and Barb wandered down onto the Rocky outcrop where they got some stunning views of the main beach at Agnes Waters.

On our way back to the car we meandered along the pathway through the natural bush were we discovered dams, a wooden bridge and many plants of interest...

From here we decided to drive further along Spring Road until we found the exit to Chinamans Beach..

The road in was bitumen and it was approx. 1.3kms in from the turnoff.  This led you to a small carpark right at the beach.  Chinaman’s Beach is a bit of a secret, a less-crowded alternative to nearby Agnes Beach.  There is  a recycled plastic step track that leads down to the beach. where there are rocks to the left which would be perfect for on-shore fishing, while to the right there’s a long stretch of beach where at any given time you are likely to see just a handful of people. We also noticed that dogs are welcome at Chinaman’s Beach, as long as you keep them on the leash.

These rocks would be great for on shore fishing...

Our last beach to check out this afternoon was Springs Beach...   Getting to Springs beach involves a bit more time and effort but it is definitely worth it. Drive on Springs road, past the museum, Workmans and Chinamans Beach, until you see the entry to Springs beach on the left and follow the dirt road through a beautiful subtropical forest. When you get to the end of the road, follow the path down to the beach. This will also require a few minutes of walking but the walking trail to the beach itself is stunning… and when you arrive at the beach all this effort will be rewarded with an awesome view.

It was after 5pm by the time we got home and none of us felt like cooking dinner, so on the recommendation of the couple staying in the unit behind us we decided to head to the Agnes Waters Tavern for dinner.  They had been the previous two nights for their dinner and couldn't recommend the place more highly so that was good enough for us...

The meals, and service didn't disappoint... In fact the staff were friendly and helpful, and meals were bought out promptly and were of a good size and delicious....

We've had another great day at Agnes Waters, finished off by a lovely evening out all together..  We only have one full day left at Agnes before we head off.  The weather forecast for the following day isn't the best,  there is rain forecast for this evening and also tomorrow.  It is a bit of a shame as we are booked to do the sunset cruise on the LARC as we know that sunsets at 1770 are over the water... One of the only locations on the east coast of Australia where this happens and we were all hoping to see an impressive one..

We will just have to wait and see what tomorrow brings...
