GIRLS MORNING OUT...
John and Barb planned to spend the morning setting up their awning and annex as a practice run this morning, whilst Steve planned to repack his boat as he had to take everything out of it when it went to get it's cover made...
Unfortunately when John went to lift the annex out of the boot of the caravan he twisted his back, so that put an end to checking out the awning and annex...
In the end, John spent a quite day just resting his back whilst Barb and I headed into town to grab some shorts for her, some goodies from the bakery and just to check out the main business area of Rainbow Beach..
We headed into town, and Barb was keen to see the rainbow coloured stairs so we headed there first,
As we were parked down on the beach front, we decided to walk out onto the beach, so that Barb could have a good look. The day was a perfect Winter's day and there were quite a few people out on the beach enjoying our beautiful Queensland weather...Beautiful Rainbow Beach |
Unfortunately there were no clothing stores as such and in the end we found a Vinnies where we scored a pair of shorts for $4. They looked pretty good and had hardly been worn at all.
We also bought ourselves a couple of matching Rainbow Beach T Shirts. I also bought a stubby cooler to match my shirt.

We were going to grab some goodies from the bakery but decided to come back into town to do that after we had paid a visit to the Surf Lifesaving Club where we were heading for a drink. We were keen to sit out on the balcony to enjoy the views..
Views from the balcony of the Surf Lifesaving Club |
We orginally just planned to have a drink up on the balcony and enjoy the view but as it was 11.30am decided on having a light lunch instead... The Surf Club started serving meals at 11.30am so this helped us to decide on the meal option..

I stuck with the sugar free stuff |
Neither of us were hugely hungry so we decided to just share a nibble plate or entree instead.
Spring rolls, curry puffs, prawn cutlets, dim sims, and meatballs.. |
We probably sat up there chatting and taking in the view for a good hour or more, and were wishing that the boys were there with us. No doubt they would have been perfectly happy just being back at the park pottering around.
Before heading back to them, we walked back into town to buy them a pie and sausage roll for their lunch. The bakery here is very popular...
We enjoyed a cuppa together whilst the boys had their lunch and then each headed to our own quarters for our afternoon nana nap. Steve wanted to headed down to the mud flats near the boat ramp sometime after 4pm to pump a few yabbies so that we could go fishing the following morning. The rest of us were to meet him there for wine and cheese whilst we watched the sun set over the water...
We arrived down at the boat ramp just after 5pm and set up our tables and snacks ready to enjoy the end of the day.
The pelicans were perched up on the lights this afternoon also and made for a good photo..
After sitting and watching the glorious sunset and chatting to several others who were also there to share the sunset with us it was time to head back to the park... John had offered to provide dinner tonight. He has cooked up a stew before leaving home so all he needed to do was heat it up. It made for an easy dinner all round..
Steve and I wandered down to John and Barb's van where they had dinner all set up for us. We had a lovely evening sitting around chatting and reminiscing of other wonderful holidays we have all shared together...

A nice hot homely stew |
The evening had turned quite cold, so Barb and I were very pleased that we had bought our Oodies with us. They certainly get put to good use when we are out camping....
Unfortunately John and Barb head home tomorrow. Our couple of days away together has gone so fast but I am so thankful for these times we get to spend together and get to create wonderful memories that we can both share.
