STRAWBERRY PICKING...

Chloe and Dan went strawberry picking on the weekend at "Oasis Berries" at 434 Bribie Island Road, Caboolture.   At the end of the strawberry season, the farm is opened up to the annual "Pick your Own"event every weekend and then every day during the Term 3 school holidays.

They have a bit of a gimmick where the first three customers get to pick 1 tray of strawberries for FREE.

You are able to pick as many strawberries as you like.  Each tray is worth $25 and can hold up to 8kg or more depending on how daring you are.  They also have strawberry ice cream for sale along with iced tea and lemonade.

They also allow you to eat as many strawberries as you like whilst picking, and there is no time limit on picking your strawberries.  In fact you can make a days outing of it and spend all day at the farm.

Huge box of strawberries.

The few times we have been strawberry picking, Chloe hasn't been with us so she was super keen to go pick some strawberries before her foot surgery this week.  This would be the only chance she would get as she is going to be out of action for the next couple of months.

We visited her in the afternoon and had a lovely feed of very red and very sweet strawberries.  Much nicer than the store bought ones.  Probably because the ones that end up in the shops are picked before they are completely ripe, where Dan and Chloe were certainly looking for the very red strawberries.

She ended up packaging quite a few bags of them to freeze as they both usually start the day with a fruit protein drink.
