CHLOE GOES IN FOR SURGERY....

Chloe rolled her ankle almost a year ago, and has had trouble with her foot ever since.  She has had months of physio without too much benefit as the ligament has pulled away from the bone.

Anyway after months of consultation between her orthopedic surgeon and her neurologist, it was decided that she would need three  procedures to correct the problem.  The first was to scrap away the scaring from the original injury.  The second was to reattach the ligament and the final one was to try and realign her foot.    Her neurologist was happy for the first two procedures to happen but was a little concerned about the third one given Chloe's neurological condition.

In the end, she decided to just go ahead with the first to procedures and leave the last one at this stage.  There were only two orthopedic specialists that her neurologist recommended as they were the only two that understood neuropathy.

She was booked in to have her surgery on the last day in August and had to be at this hospital nice and early...

Brisbane Private Hospital

She needed to be there by 6.30am to can prepped for her surgery.  She was one of the first for the morning.

All ready for surgery..

The surgery went ahead and the specialist was happy with the result.  She was all out of surgery around 9.30am and was awake enough to contact us around lunch time...

Flowers for Chloe

We decided to go visit her after we picked up the children from school.  We bought them home first for a bath and got them ready for bed, picked up some flowers and headed up to the hospital to visit our girl..

Dan had already gone home when we all arrived.  Chloe was bright and happy to see us all.  I don't think she was expecting us to come in and see her.  She thought she would only be in hospital overnight but it turns out that she has to spend two nights in hospital and then has a week off work as she has to rest her foot and have it alleviated.  She can't put any weight on her foot for at least a fortnight...

When we arrived she was busy trying to fill our her menu requirements for the following day.  All the meal options sounded good and she was having trouble deciding just what she would like to have.  Appartently the meals at the hospital here are very good.  She has been impressed with her meals that she had already had...

The children were busy playing on my iPad and Sarah decided to have a bit of fun with the board with Chloe's details.  Good thing it was all done with a whiteboard pen and they had a duster there to rub it out.

There was quite a bit of banter and I am sure that it helped pass the evening for Chloe.  Surprisingly, she was not in a lot of pain from her surgery.  She had only had one lot of panodol for pain and was feeling pretty good.  We suggested that perhaps she should have another lot just before going to sleep.

She didn't want her photo taken...

Her toes were really red after the surgery

Still trying to get used to wearing this mask...

We left around 7pm as we still had to get the children dinner and then get them home to bed as it is still a school day tomorrow...

Max likes to press the buttons at the lift...

I am pleased we managed to get up to the hospital to see Chloe...  Brisbane Private Hospital is right in the heart of the city, so parking can be an issue.  It was nice though to see the night sky all light up with the lights and colour of the city.  Makes me realize we should go in there to visit a little more often at night...

The lights of the city light up the night sky...

Heading home...

Tomorrow we move from Sarah's to Chloes.  Time to help out at her place now whilst she is laid up and can't use her foot.  So please that we have retired and are able to come and help out.
