OUT TO DINNER WITH OUR GOOD FRIENDS IAN AND KATHY..
Whist we were in Brissie, we were invited out to a fund raising dinner by our good friends Ian and Kathy for their grand son and son in law.
We know both Justin and Ezekiel well and they were trying to raise some sponsorship money so that they could both go on a School Missions trip out to West Qld to help on one of the aboriginal communities... As Justin is the social worker at the school his children attend, he is able to go along as one of the helpers and organizers. Normally the mission trip would go overseas to support a mission but with COVID and the international borders closed they had to find somewhere closer to home. Even with all the State borders closing at the drop of a hat, it meant that this mission trip needed to be within their home State.
The dinner was held at their home church "The Rivers Apostolic Centre"and was beautifully set up for the evening's meal...
Justin and Ezekiel decided to organize a Father's Day evening with an Aussie theme, where they could honour their dads and just dad's in general. The evening consisted of a seven course meal, although I did forget to photograph a couple of the main meals.
Each of the tables had different Aussie birds and animals as table decorations.
And just to add to the humour, our resident table decoration the kangaroo, was wearing a face mask also, as at the moment in Qld, if you are indoors anywhere other than your own home, a face mask must be worn at all times... Thought it was rather cute...Our good friend Ian provided the musical entertainment for the evening, and our meals were interspersed by poetry recitals by both Justin and Ezekiel reciting some of the great Australian poems by the likes of Banjo Patterson.
Justín's sister also sang a beautiful song she wrote in honor of her own father which almost bought tears to your eyes...

Justin recited poetry and cracked some funny DAD jokes.. |
Melody and her Aunty Ruth spent days preparing a 7 course banquet for us to enjoy, and it was wonderful. There were at least 50 people at the dinner so it really was a huge undertaking on their behalf. We couldn't just help ourselves.s The food all need to be individually plated and then served. A few of Ezekiel's friends from school offered their services as waiters and waitresses and they did an excellent job.
The food was delicious and well presented.
Unfortunately I forgot to photograph the two main meals. The first one arriving out after the soup. The first was lovely tender corn meat served with cauliflower, broccoli and some mashed potato, and the second meal I forgot to photo graph was a beautiful chicken with a creamy sauce, served with mixed greens...
It really was a lovely evening, and the boys were able to raise quite a bit of money to help them achieve their dream of going on the mission trip.
