CHRISTMAS LIGHTS IN RAINSFORD PLACE.. BUDERIM....
Love this photo of Willow and I... |
What an amazing display. There must have been 50 houses all lit up in a ring road and about 10,000 people trying to see them. The place was packed but we managed to find a park and we walked the whole lot. The kids just LOVED IT, and Max thought it was the best night ever. Part of the joy for Steve and I was just listening to their conversations and seeing the excitement as they viewed the different houses. They were super impressed with the snow machine at one of the houses that was throwing snow up over us all. A real credit to this little community. We haven’t seen anything like it and just loved it.
Max was pretty much in seventh heaven as we wandered the footpaths. At this display they had a lot of wading on the ground representing snow and I think the thing that Max love the most was at this house they actually had a snow making machine which was throwing out snow all over us. Max and Willow just thought that it was wonderful.
Not only do people come from far and wide to see the lights, but some
residents have even moved specifically to take part in the extravagant display. The owners at No 18 Rainford Place moved in 5 years ago knew moving there meant contributing to the light show...
It turns out that the neighbours in the street are very friendly and they help out new folk buying into the street by giving new comers into the street a few lights each.
Two new residents moved in last year who just knew already, and one guy moved there specifically to be a part of it.
The street is already a strong contender in the competition but Rainsford Place has a secret weapon under its belt.
On Christmas Eve, apparently the street gathers to light hundreds of candles and place them on the side of the road for what they call "Santa's landing strip".
They had a snow machine, smoke machine and lasers last year, and our children just lovde it. Some families come every second night.
A lot of the houses have lots of interactive displays which the children just loved and it gave us plenty of opportunities to do some photo bombing with them...One of Steve's favourites... |
I was particularly impressed with the number of houses that had representation of the nativity scene and the true meaning of Christmas. Several of the houses in the street had a manager scene withe Joseph, Mary, the baby Jesus and wise men and shephards. It was great to see that the reason for the season was the birth of Jesus...
The kids were super excited to see Mickey and Minnie Mouse displayed at one of the homes...
One of the houses even had a photo booth set up so that the kids could have different sort of photos taken using props. Max and Willow thought this was a great idea and we had to take several photos of them using all sorts of different masks...
I am so glad we went. It is truly one of the most spectacular streets I have seen. It would have taken us well over an hour to walk around the whole street, but the children both declared that it was the best night ever... We got so much joy from listening to their banter together and seeing how excited they got. It truly made our evening...
