A Week of Celebrations
What a week this last week has been with lots of Birthday celebrations. They are not about to end soon either, with Sarah's birthday this weekend and Chloe's and Mother's Day the following weekend.
Last Friday night, we had a girls night out to celebrate the birthdays of these girls who all have birthdays within a week of each other.
It was a milestone Birthday for two of the girls (Kay in green turned 60) and Sharon (on the end in a black and white shirt turned 40) We all went out to dinner and then came back to our place for Birthday Cake and desert. It was a great night. Got to take the little girls too.
Then on Saturday morning - it was boarding a plane to Brisbane to attend the special birthdays of this lovely couple. Barb turned 50 and her Husband John turned 60.I got in just on lunch time, and Sarah picked me up - we shopped for a bit and then indulged ourselves and had a pedicure and a manicure. Ah how I love these girlie times with my girls.
Then we had to quickly race home and make a mask to wear to the party as it was a Masked Cruise down the Brisbane River.
Just a few shots of us getting ready to board the boat. I am afraid that our masks didn't last on our faces too long and they annoyed our eye lashes. Must admit though, there were some pretty awesome masks, including the venetian blinds mask. Totally awesome.
It wasn't too hard to guess that Barb would turn up in Bright Pink. She loves pink and BRIGHT colours, which was evident on the night, with bright balloons everywhere. She is such a special friend, and I am so blessed to call her a dear friend. There is no way I would have missed her special night.
We have been the best of friends now for 27 years, and distance hasn't changed that. I love catching up with her, and wish we could get together more often. But even though we might only see each other a few times each year, we can just sit down and chat as if were were together every day.
I also managed to catch up with some other friends from Rocky whom I haven't see for a few years. Our kids all went to school together and were the best of friends. They were so happy to catch up with Pete too as they hadn't seen him in almost 15 years. Their son and Pete still keep in touch with each other. Pete and Sarah also got to catch up with Barb's kids. They were almost like family growing up, and I know they all enjoyed catching up with each other.
Then yesterday, this gorgeous lady turned 40
We got together both yesterday afternoon and this afternoon for a coffee together, and last night we joined them for a family dinner to celebrate her birthday. The kids were so excited - it was so lovely to see, we arrived home from have a coffee to find they had tidied the house for her, and had the table all set for dinner, and were so eager to give her their presents. Love these guys so much and are going to miss them something aweful when they leave her next week.
Once they head back to PNG it will be another three years before we catch up again - it is so hard to say goodbye to them, especially the kids, because they grow so much in that time. They guys are definately family too us. We love them to bits.
In other news - life has been busy, full of work, and visitors, appointments, and sleepovers, coffee, meetings, and generally just trying to keep on top of it all but life has been good. We are so blessed to have so many special people in our lives.
Managed to take this church family photo the other weekend, even though there were lots of families away - it was good to get a photo with Craig and Sharon and the family with us all.
Our beautiful other family - our adopted grandkids. We love you guys.
