A Glimpse into the past week.
What a week..... lots of rain again.... and we definately need to buy a clothes dryer. Ours died whilst we were away on holidays, and we have had washing hanging all over the house.
We have all been a little creative this week. Chloe has a love affair with these at the moment.
especially the watercolour ones, and has spent quite a bit of time, drawing. She really is quite good. I have been trying to convince her to do a course in drawing or painting.
She is still carless at the moment, so is spending a lot more time at home hence the extra time to indulge in some art.
Meanwhile I came accross this here
and thought I would have a go myself. It is years since I have done any crocheting. In fact I made a set of them to use as coasters. Thinking that with finer cotton, they might make good scrapbooking embellishments too.
and this is what they would look like on our dining room table.
I've also had a girls night with one of my close friends making these.
and this one too.
Also picked up this bargain on the weekend too. Really like them. It wasn't a complete dinner set, but it was too good a bargain to not get. Looking forward to having a special luncheon where I will be able to use them.
and these too...
They are a really lovely latte colour.
Chloe is still tending her garden, but the produce is not abundant yet. This was the only one we could find this week.
Pretty sad state of affairs. Might have to get in and start planting some more. Traditionally tomorrow St. Patrick's Day is the day you would normally plant strawberries this far north in the tropics.
We do have an abundant supply of these on our trees though.
Enjoyed walking around our garden and appreciating the beauty. Sometimes these lovely flowers get lost in the jungle of greenery that is growing around there at the moment. It is very hard to keep on top of it all.
Unfortunately nothing quite flowers up this way like it does down south.
I received this email this week, and thought it was definately worth sharing.
Law of the Garbage Truck
One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us.
My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.
My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly.
So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!' This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'
He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally.
Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.
The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.
Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so ... Love the people who treat you right.
Pray for the ones who don't.
Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!
and for all of us that have kids, I am sure you will identify with this one,
I am sure we have all have a little trouble dealing with all the tragic events that have been happening around the world in the last week. It sure makes you realize that life is fleeting, that there are no guarantees in the world. Our lives are but a vapour. We can spend our lives accumulating wealth and storing it up and yet it can be taken from us within a second. This has been a good week to reflect on what is really important in our lives, what does our future hold, for me the only certainity in this world is my relationship with God.... it is the only thing that is of eternal value. Do you have the assurance of where you will spend eternity... . It is definately something to think about in this uncertain period of time.
Until next week.
