CLOCKING UP A HUGE AMOUNT OF KLMS IN 6 DAYS

For the last week of Chloe's holidays she went on a road trip with her bestie... and her family to Canberra and then with her best friend's Dad across to Adelaide and then along the Great Ocean Road to Melbourne.  I think the ventured into four states in as many days.
They left Rockhampton on the 29th of December and headed out west down to Goondiwindi and down into NSW to Moree.  A good 10-11 hours drive....

Lunch time stop at Goodiwindi and a play with the cousins.
Wish I had a map to document the trip
First day they stopped in the park at Goondiwindi and had lunch.
All of Daina's family travelled to Rockhampton to have Christmas together and then the girls travelled as far back as Canberra with them all.   The first night they got as far as Moree.  They made the most of the mineral baths and spas there and enjoyed a swim... more to relax their weary bones from the long hours of sitting.
Day 2 saw them head further south down through Wellington and Orange and on to Canberra.
Roll on Canberra - couldn't wait to get there..
Night 2 saw them head out with some of Daina's friends so that they could show Chloe the town.
Climbing the Sheep
On Christmas night in Rocky, Peter and Chloe took Daina and her brother out to see the sights of Rocky and one of the things they did was visit some of the big bulls around town and they even managed to climb them.   So of course in Camberra you climb onto a sheep.

Day 3 saw them leave pretty early heading off to Adelaide.  The passed through Yass and then Gundagai where they got to visit this
The dog and his Tucker Box.
Day 3 saw them also pass through through Swan Hill where they stopped for dinner and then headed off for another half an hour to Tooleybuc where they stayed overnight for New Year's Eve.

Day 4 saw they leave pretty early so they could get to Adelaide.  They stopped at Pinnaroo for breakfast where they cleaned up this
Breakfast stop at Pinnaroo
Pinnaroo is pretty much on the border, so it wasn't long before they saw this sign as they headed into South Australia.
Crossing into South Australia
They were going to Adelaide to visit with some of Daina's family and for Daina to get the opportunity for her to meet her new cousin who was only a couple of months old.
Daina with her new cousin...
They arrived in Adelaide just after lunch and spent the afternoon at Glenelg Beach

The girls loved this beach
Chloe loved the beach here.... The water was so crystal clear and cold.  She said the water was up past her chest and she could still clearly see her toes.  She would love to live here.

They also stayed in this pretty classy hotel in Adelaide.

The girls had a late night spa before retiring...
Spa time....
Day 5 saw them on the road again early.....  they folowed the Princes Highway passed through Meningie where they saw this lovely lake...
Lake at Miningie
Even though Daina's Dad did most of the driving the girls did manage to clock up a few hours each day.

Daina Driving
Daina should have pretty much clocked upall her hours now so it shoul mean that it won't be long until she has her licence.

The passed through Mt Gambier, and the high light for Chloe was visiting
The Blue Lake in Mt Gambier.
and also the Umphesten Sinkhole, which Daina's Dad had known about.  It really is quite an impressive place to visit.  They loved it.

They headed back across the border again into Victoria.
Back into Victoria
Their stop for the night was Portland.....
It was to be another very early morning start as they kind of wanted to leave at dawn as they had to be at Queenscliffe to catch a ferry by 2.30pm and they wanted to see the Great Ocean Road and stop at some ofthe tourist spots there.

They had a beautiful start to the day in Portland....
Early morning in Portland...
 There first stop was here....

 Then the visited here

They made good time at got to Queenscliffe in plenty of time to catch the ferry at Sorento across Port Phillip Bay into Melourne.
Their trip had pretty much ended.  They visited with Daina's grandmother who was turning 90 this coming week..

Day 7 saw them heading out to Melbourne Airport to catch their flight home to Rocky. It was a great trip....
The girls really enjoyed it, and covered a lot of territory.  I mean Chloe has now been to places that I haven't.  I still need to visit Adelaide... Maybe in the next couple of years....

I will share some better photos of their trip when I get to see all of the photos they took whilst they were away.
Still trying to catch up on the back log of posts....
