FENCE BUILDING

Saturday was fence building day...
This was a job we had planned to do on the Friday
Seeing we couldn't see the Chiropractor on Thursday we ended up in Brissie on Friday.
Fence building is not the best thing to do on one's anniversary, but we still managed a lovely evening out and a movie afterwards so it was all good.

We have known all year that we needed to replace half the fence on our house at the coast....
it has been falling down for the last 12 months
So we can prepared to build....
Firstly we had to remove the old fence.

Taking off all the old palings....
Hammering the nailes through for Dad to pull out....
It's hard work in the hot sun
Getting these posts out might prove a challenge
Meanwhile whilst Steve is getting the palings off the fence and working out what to do with these old posts ( we had nice new metal ones to concrete in)
Dad has found a seat and is pulling out all the nails
He is happy to be out there involved and helping out too.
 Meanwhile the neighbour comes out.
He is thankful we are not charging him for his share of the fence...
He offers to help build it.....
He has tools namely an electric saw that he offers to lend
Softening the sand around the posts in the hope we can yank them out.
 The housing works.......
We only need to saw off one of the posts.
The rest we are able to yank out with some help....
Meanwhile Dad continues to pull nails from the old palings so his friend can come and collect them for firewood.
Still pulling nails.....
The new posts are in...
Ready to pour in the cement.....
Meanwhile Dad's mate Colin arrives to collect all the old palings.
He has a fireplace...
It's hardwood so will burn well.
(And I didn't want to cart it back to Rocky with us)
We help him load it onto his ute....
Loading up the old palings for firewood....
Now we have to work out how to secure it to the existing fence...
Two heads are better than one....
Working out how to secure to existing fence....
Almost done....
So thankful to Graham for lending a hand...
Instead of it taking a couple of days,
it was all completed in one day.....
Which means more time for us to relax....
Fence almost completed
Another couple of jobs done and dusted these holidays
Front fence fixed and secured....
Side fence rebuilt.....
Working on new flooring for the boat..
Always jobs to do...
