TWO TRIPS TO THE BEACH IN A WEEK....

After my unexpected trip to the beach to change my jeans, I got  call the following day from my good friend Eleonore to see if I wanted to spend the day with her on the Friday as she had the day off...

We had such a good time when we went to the beach together the previous week that she was keen to do it again, so arranged to pick me up around 9.30am and we headed down to the Tanby Nursery at Emu Park... It was our first port of call...

The weather wasn't as good today, so we decided to check out shops and nurseries instead...

     Tanby Nursery and Garden Centre
Neither of us had been to the nursery before but we had heard good things about it so decided to check it out....

Once we entered through the gate we headed to a covered area which seemed to house the home or garden decorated area.  There were lots of garden furniture in here, plus water features  cushions, wall hangings and we enjoyed wandering through here and checking them all out....
I took photos of course....
Seagulls
wooden chair with colourful cushion...

Bamboo furniture
 Eleonore liked this setting..
I liked the cow hide chair below...  all quite different to other stuff seen at other nurseries...

loved this red and white outdoor setting...

The above piece was quite unusual, although I can't say that I would really want it in my garden...
But I did love this water feature...

This one was huge...
Normally you could have morning tea here but with Covid restrictions, that has been closed for the time being, so we could enjoy morning tea here this morning...

Coffee shop
From here we wandered outside to check on all the beautiful big ceramic pots, sculptures and bird baths.  Now that is something I would love to have in our garden but the price tag was a little off putting...

I particularly liked this piece of sculpture....
The nursery backs onto a little creek, and they had this little set up with an old boat to make the most of the setting.....

These bird baths were a couple of hundred dollars each... Probably out of our price range at the moment... I think I would have a hard time convincing my husband that one in our garden was necessary...

Bird Baths
Beautiful big ceramic pots..
I particularly liked this purple pot, particularly the shape of it...

After checking these out, we then headed to the nursery section to check out all the plants....
You could easily have got carried away in here... There were quite a few i would have liked for our garden, but I restrained myself... I did buy though a pretty orange and purple daisy plant, and I did photograph quite a few plant tags and names for future reference.

They had a wonderful range of beautiful large and colourful hibiscus.

I had  hard time deciding between this yellow daisy and the orange and purple one, but in the end the purple and orange one won out...
I ended up buying this one for our garden..

Wide range of colours...
beautiful fusias
This one I particularly liked and made sure I photographed the name of it for future reference.  It was pretty expensive though at around $22 a pot..

A lovely range of begonias
They also had quite a big range of miniature cactus and succulents.  A lot of them I had never seen before...

These were really quite gorgeous...
These were especially different...  almost like little robotic people...
Another nice water feature...
They had a large range of annuals as well.....
Selfie...
I am rather keen on developing a shaded garden at home so found the next section of the nursery very interesting and took down lots of names of plants that I liked here...
me with my new plant I was going to buy
It took us well over and hour to wander around the nursery, but it was time to keep moving..
We still needed to walk through their little shop before we could leave.   They had some lovely home decorating bits and pieces in their little shop which we enjoyed looking at...

I picked up an extra bag of flat oval pebbles for my rock paining from in their shop..
Some lovely colourful mats
Love these chooks
Eleonore was fascinated by this yarn hat..
Loved this wooden pelican also....

Once we left the nursery, Eleonore was keen to check out the old Rydges Capricorn Resort.  It was one of the gems of the coast and boasted having the largest swimming pool in the southern hemisphere in it's hey day, but it has been closed down for quite a few years now and is being let go to rack and ruin..

It was quite sad to see.  On our way to Rydges we drove past the turn off to Bangalee and as it has been many many years since I have been there we decided to turn down that road on our way back into Yeppoon for lunch....
heading down onto the beach
The beach here is stunning.... Miles and miles of uninterrupted beach and no one on it..
Mind you I could understand why as the weather was pretty poor today.  Very windy and the seas were really choppy.

Selfies on the beach
Looking down the beach to Yeppoon...

We actually come across this rather large headstone on the beach... Unusual place to have one this impressive..
Vehicle access down onto the beach
This beach is pretty popular with the 4WD enthusiasts and this is their access point onto the beach.

By now it was after 1pm and we were feeling quite hungry so decided to head back into Yeppoon and try and find somewhere to have a bit to eat....
We stopped here for lunch
We ended up at a wonderful little restaurant called Whisk..  We had been here before..
Our visit today was slightly different to our dining here in the past...
At the moment because of Covid, they are not alowed to serve us at our table...  Although we can still still there and eat, it is all take away food at present..

I didn't particularly want a large meal, so settled for a croissant with ham, cheese and chutney, whilst Eleonore settled for a bacon and egg burger with fresh fries..
Coastal vibe of Yeppoon
My lunch
Eleonore's bacon and egg burger....
After lunch we decided to take a stroll down through James Street and check out a lot of the shops before heading home...
Most of the shops down here are more like boutique shops or one only shops so most of what they sell are one offs....
Love this little turtle wall art..
Colourful rugs
Lotions and potions.

We went for a walk through the park and then headed down the other side of the street to check out the little toy and sweets shop Kaboozie.  Love all the colourful array of wooden toys and one offs that they sell here....
I've always loved visiting this little shop... The eye candy is amazing..... and oh so colourful....

Wooden food... every little girls dream
great little doll house
Just love the golliwogs.... so many memories of my childhood...
They have a wonderful assortment of sweets and chocolates...
 We walked through the park..

Their fragrance was beautiful
Yeppoon Town Hall
Main Street in Yeppoon
Anzac Monument.
By now it was going on for 3pm, so we thought it was time to head back to the car and head home...
We had parked just in front of another one of the clothing and home decor shops and I just loved this coastal lamp, so of course I had to photograph it also before leaving...

The lady in this shop was very chatty and friendly and we talked to her for a good 20 minutes or more until her phone rang and we were able to then get away.

Our drive home was uneventful, but we had had a great day down on the coast again ...
Not so much time spent at the beach this time,  as the weather was not the best, but still a great day and we plan to do it more often..
