FAMILY DAY AT BARGARA...

Today we planned to spend with our Sarah and the children...  We hadn't planned on doing any sightseeing, just chilling out at the beach...  The kids really only have one full day in Bundy so rather than race around all over town, we have decided to just stay put...

We all had a bit of a sleep in the morning, well I should say the adults... The kids were up pretty early but the iPad amused them until the adults stirred...

We had a leisurely breakfast at the van but as Sarah was hanging out for a coffee, we decided to go check out the Windmill Cafe as we had heard rave reviews about their coffee and ice cream, so decided to go check it out... Coffee for Sarah and ice creams for the rest of us...

Once we found a table it was time to go in and order...

Sarah ordered her coffee and wasn't really interested in ordering an ice cream until she saw the array of flavours and then couldn't resist ordering a small ferrero roche gelato like me...

Shane and Sarah had contacted us to see what we were up too so we informed them that we were at the Windmill..

Shane and Ben had been out fishing..  Bennie was keen to have a go at fishing, so Dave had lent them some rods and each morning he had Shane had gone down to the beach to fish...  Most days he caught fish, although not big enough to keep..

We were still enjoying our ice creams when they arrived..

As they hadn't had breakfast yet they decided to order breakfast here.

We sat there chatting for quite some time, but once we were finished, Steve and I had planned to take the children down to the esplanade for a play on the big turtle and swim.  Pip, Jess and Sarah decided to join us... Shane ended up taking Ben home for a rest as he was pretty tired and wanted a sleep.  Sarah had also asked Shane to go do the shopping for the Latham get together that night around at the Basin again...

We had decided to make it pretty simple and just have a sausage sizzle, (sausage on a piece of bread with sauce).  Our Sarah was looking forward to catching up with the rest of the cousins and meeting their partners...

Sarah, Pip, Jess and I and Max and Willow decided to walk around there whilst our Sarah and Steve ducked up to grab some food for a picnic lunch for us...

It was probably a little boring for Jess and after about an hour she was keen to go home.  The only way home for her was a five and a half kilometre walk.  She wasn't too keen on doing it but it was the only way she would get home so in the end she took off...

We had taken Sarah's skateboard with us so the girls had a lot of fun learning to ride this...

Max made some friends with some other little boys and had a wonderful time playing make believe games in the playground...

After all the wind and rain, today was the perfect day, with lovely clear blue skies, gentle breeze and the bluest of blue ocean...

It was such a perfect Day that both Sarah's decided to take the kids for a swim...  The girls really enjoyed the swimming but Max had more fun exploring all the rock pools amongst the large black basalt rocks which covered the beach...

Once they had their swim it was back to the playground for another play all together...

Whilst Pip and Max played on the playgound, Willow was honing her skills on the skateboard...

We had a great time down on the Esplanade but around 2.30pm we got a call from my sister saying that they had driven down to Bargara to catch up with us, so we figured it was time to head back to the van.  Sarah and Pip decided to come visit also, as Pip was super keen to see our caravan...

Max and Willow were also keen to ride their scooters, so in the end we walked over to Neilsen Park, right on the beach at Bargara so the kids could ride their scooters on the skate bowl there.  Us adults took some of our foldable chairs over to sit on whilst we watched them...

Even Steve and I had a little fun with Willow's scooter.  Steve has been looking at electric scooters for us.  I am not sure yet how my balance with go with it, but I seemed to manage scootering around on this scooter.  I would imagine an adult scooter would have more feet room which would allow for better balance anyway...

Jude and John joined us over in the park.  It was so good to catch up with them,  we haven't had much time to see them this visit, as we have pretty much been tied up with Steve's family...

It has been years since I have been down on the Bargara Beach.. From sitting in the park there looks to have been quite a bit of erosion down here, so I decided to go for a walk down onto the beach and check it all out...

One of the things that disappointed me, was the lack of lovely sand on the beach.  It no longer has the lovely golden sand that I remember from my youth.  It is more of a muddy sand these days.  A little disappointing....

There are still plenty of basalt rocks framing the beach, and I remember spending hours as a child exploring all the rock pools encased in these rocks..

By the time we left the beach it was going for for 5pm... I still had a bit to do before we headed back to the Basin to meet the rest of the Latham Clan.  We had organised a family sausage sizzle for the evening and we needed to be there by 6.30pm...

I needed to head back first and grab my washing off the line... Sarah is leaving tomorrow and I wanted to get her washing up to date along with a pile of dirty washing that we had.

We decided to take both cars to the Basin this evening.  The children had been out in the sun all day and were looking pretty tired, so Sarah wanted the option to be able to bring them home a little earlier if she needed to.

As it turned out, she had no sooner got to the Basin when Max started complaining about having a migraine...  The poor kids suffers from these too often, and Sarah just knew she would have to get him home to bed otherwise he would end up being very sick...

I felt so disappointed for her as she had come up specially to catch up with her cousins and now it was looking like she would miss seeing them...

In the end, I offered to come back and sit with Max once she settled him, so that she could go back and catch up with everyone.  All she had to do was ring me when she had him settled and I would come straight back...

Half an hour later I got a call from her so I headed back and she left to go catch up with everyone once again.  I decided to try and get all the washing folded so that it was ready for her to pack once she got home...  No sooner had I started folding when Max woke... The poor kid was in a lot of pain...  It breaks your heart when you hear him crying that he can't do this any more,  that his head is so bad that he pleads with you to just take it away for him... When he cries out "What can I do Moppy, My head is so bad" and when he tells you he just wants to die... It truly bought tears to my eyes...

In the end the poor little darling just wanted his Mum, so in the end I had to ring her to come on back home.  It was kind of like playing tag with each other... Once she got back, I took off back so that I could bring Steve home, as by now, he had no car down there and no way of getting home.....

No sooner had I got back there when Sarah was ringing asking me to come back home as Max had just vomited and he had it everywhere and she needed someone to help her clean it all up...

By now it was after 8.30pm, and way past Willow's bed time also, so everyone decided to head for home..

Steve helped Sarah clean up the mess, whilst I took Willow for her shower and got her ready for bed.  Once we had her tucked in, both Sarah and I headed to the laundry to wash all the sheets, Max's sleeping bag and pillow as they were all covered in his vomit...  What a horrid end to a lovely day...

Usually if he has a good night sleep he wakes up feeling pretty good the following day.  Irrespective, we still planned to have a very low key kind of morning the following morning before Sarah and the children headed back off to travel back to Brisbane...
