SWIMMING IS OUR NEW EXERCISE TOGETHER...

Now that we are both retired, we needed to find a form of exercise to do together.  We both feel so much better when we do exercise.  It is way too hot to walk here at the moment, we only come home feel totally exhausted and wrecked for the rest of the day...

I have always loved to swim and find that even after a big swim, I feel refreshed once I hop out of the water...

Steve is not a keen swimmer at all as he suffered from some severe ear infections as a child and even as an adult by swimming in public pools, so it took a little to convince him that he should come swimming with me, even if he just used a kick board and kicked or walked up and down the pool.

I finally managed to convince him to join me and he quite enjoyed it.  We both felt like we had a decent workout and will make it a regular even for at least three mornings a week, at this stage going on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning...

I am also doing aqua aerobics with a couple of girlfriends on Tuesday and Thursdays so that gives me a five day work out a week...

Our days are beautiful for swimming...

No trouble getting into the water as it is not cold, but also not hot.  It is actually quite refreshing... I love swimming the laps as it gives me lots of time to think and enjoy my own space...

We are very lucky here in that our council encourages physical fitness and has capped the entrance fee at the pool to $2.50 per session...  I know when I swim in Brisbane it costs me $5 for a swim, so I am very very grateful that swimming for exercise in our town is very affordable...

Also we have two olympic pools in town, and feel equally blessed that the one on our side of town really caters for those wanting to exercise, where the pool on the other side of town is more for play with waterslides and other fun activities for those with families to enjoy..
