AUSTRALIA DAY 2021..

Our very good friends came over for lunch today to celebrate Australia Day with us.  We worked out today that it has been at least 28 years since we have enjoyed an Australia Day together.

Our day started with a swim.  Barb and I are enjoying swimming together each morning doing our laps. Often we have a cuppa together after our swim, but I headed home straight after our swim today to prepare for our Australia Day lunch.

I had bought down my box of Australia Day decorations from home, so we hung bunting and the Australian flag out on our side patio, and I had little flags to decorate our table along with Australia Day disposable plates and serviettes.

Steve and I even wore our Aussie T Shirts for the ocassion...

We were having a fair dinkum Aussie BBQ for lunch with lamb and snags, along with roast potatoes, wombok salad, beetroot and a tossed salad...

Steve was in charge of the BBQ..

It was great to celebrate this special day with these special friends...

Back when Barb lived in Rocky we did a lot of celebrating together....

We had lunch our doors as it was such a lovely day with a beautiful cool sea breeze...

For desert we had mini pavlovas with fresh cream and fruit salad, along with the good old favourite Aussie lamington..

It was a lovely relaxing afternoon, we sat and chatted for ages and then played a few games of Bananagrams.

John and Barb left just before 5pm.  Steve and I then decided to finish the day by a walk down along the waters edge down at the Mooloolaba Spit.  It was such a lovely day and the perfect way to end the day, as we walked out along the rock wall on sunset...

It really was the most perfect day...
