My Mother's Shoes

My Mum's shoes hold some special memories for me. When ever I see shoes like this I will always think of my Mum.She wore them everywhere...we would often walk behind Mum and Dad when we went for coffee and we would see them hand in hand as they walked everywhere together. Friends that lived on the Sunshine Coast told us that there would not be a week that went by that they would not see Mum and Dad out walking together like this
This photo will always hold a special memory for me. Like I said, Mum loved these shoes, there wasn't a day that she was in hospital that she didn't ask about her shoes. She was always looking for them.

I wanted to photograph her shoes as a reminder of just what big shoes we have to fill. My Mum was a very gracious woman.... she never had a bad word to say about anyone, if anything, she taught us to always look for the good in people, even in those that were difficult to love.
She was always happy, she had learnt to be content in whatever situation that she was in, whether good or bad.... she loved unconditionally, and she had a simple faith.... she loved her Lord, her faith was very real, she lived her faith. If I could be half the woman that my Mum was I would be happy.. We have had a wonderful role model in our mum.... She was always thankful and thought of others before herself.

Things I am thankful for this week.

1. The life of my beautiful Mum.
2. That I was able to spend five beautiful weeks with her caring for her and loving her during the last days of her life.
3. For the lessons she taught me even on her sickest days.
4. The love shown to her by the nursing staff in the hospital.
5. Her amazing sense of humor
6. Her hugs and kisses.
7. Her unconditional love
8. The beautiful love we witnessed between my Mum and my Dad.
9. The time we spent as a family - sister time caring together for Mum.
10. The prayers, love and support shown to my Mum and Dad and all our family during this hard period in our lives.
11. A life well lived and well loved.
12. The influence my Mum had on the lives of those around her.
13. Her gentleness.
14. Her beautiful smile
15. Her sparkling eyes that lit up everytime we walked into her room.
16. Her faith and delight in her Lord.
17. Thankful that of all the Mum's God chose for us, we had the BEST...
