A DAY ON THE RIVER

It's a public holiday in Queensland today.  Labour day,  the opening day of Beef Week here too, but we decided to spend a day on the river.  Just the two of us.... It was a great day.  The weather was perfect.  Lovely cool breeze, bright blue skies, and muddy water, but there is something very relaxing being on the water. and we needed that....

We took off mid morning and headed down to put the boat in the water.

Backing the boat down the boat ramp... love the new boat ramp in town, I can now hop in the boat without getting my feet wet...
Heading down the pontoon to the boat.
Looking forward to spending the day on the water with this special man....
Heading down the river.. Such a beautiful day to be on the water.
The river is so calm.... the breeze is gentle.... just loved being out on the water today.

Time to set out some crab pots....

Helping to bait up and set up the crab pots.
Heading up the creeks looking for some places to drop them.
Looking for a quiet spot to drop the rest of the pots.
Last pot dropped
Time to stop for a drink and something to eat...

Enjoying a nice cold Ginger Beer.

Some cheese, pesto and crackers
Nothing like a picnic on a boat on a perfect day on the river.
Time for a fish.....
Nothing to get excited about.... good crabpot bait.
Wowwww what have I got...... Nothing to get excited about.  Still a nice day on the river.
Time to head back to pick up the crab pots.....
None in that one.....
Wow crabs,   we managed to get seven, unfortunately didn't get to bring one home at all.  The big ones were all females, and the undersized were all bucks.  Better luck next time.
Some of the Scenery
Interesting  -a stone wall right across the river.,  with just a small opening.  Interesting too in that one side of the river is actually higher than the other, so it was like climbing uphill going through the gap....

Last fish before heading home.
Motoring back towards the boat ramp.
Boat ramp in sight.... water is way down.  Must almost be low tide.
Getting the boat back onto the trailer...... great afternoon.
One very happy man.... must admit I really enjoyed my time on the river with him also, and am keen to do it again real soon.
It has just been one of the best days.   I must admit I left with a big smile on my face too.

Got a post on the boys coming up next.....  Big week this week.
