ENJOYING OUR TIME IN HERVEY BAY....

We weren't really well whilst we were there... Still we think it is more relaxing in a caravan when not well, than sitting at home and looking around and feeling stressed because you can't get in and get jobs done around the place...
At least in the caravan, you can get all your house work done within 10 minutes....
We really do make our lives more complicated,  the more we acquire, the more complex our lives become as we try to look after, clean and protect all our belonging...
Oh to go back to the good old days, when less was the norm, and you had so much more time to enjoy each other and life as a whole...

On the Thursday, we pretty much stayed in the van, resting and relaxing... I still had no voice and Steve still had pretty bad sinus, so we just chilled out for the day....  We did catch up with my cousin and his wife and family later in the afternoon for a cuppa....

On Friday, the boys went fishing for the day.... They left early in the morning and headed over to Fraser Island.  They had the best day...
The weather was perfect and they caught lots of fish... I reminded them in the morning before they left that I wanted some photos.... The fishing was so good, that they completely forgot to photograph anything until it was time to come home and they took a couple of photos just to please me....

Out on the boat with Drew.... lots of whiting....
Perfect day in the Bay....
On Saturday, we were both feeling heaps better so we took off to do a little shopping and then head to the Hervey Bay Orchid Show.... we heard about it when we were at the Botanical Gardens, and as we both love the flowers we thought it was worthwhile visiting...
The Hevey Bay Orchid Show
There were orchid displays, from different towns in the region,  Maryborough, Gympie, Bundaberg. There were orchids that I have never seen before and the blooms were amazing...
Huge Orchid photo share coming up....

These apricot orchids in the photo above were just gorgeous... Wish I coulkd get hold of some...
I would really love to know how they get them to flower profusely.... It is when I see displays like this that I really do wish that I had some green thumbs...
Someone was telling me at the Orchid Show, that other than grasses, Orchids are the largest family of plants in the word, and they can be found all over the world...
There were also some of these other plants at the show also... Loved these ones below..

I think that the flower arrangements in Rocky are much nicer that  the ones in Hervey Bay....

Steve and I were really fascinated by these picture plants.... They are really quite large.  I took a photo of one next to Steve's hand to give us some idea of how big they really are....
Large Picture plants on display

These Bromeliads were beautiful... Such rich colours...  They had a lovely display of them also... and I was tempted to buy a couple.... I decided to wait though until we do up our entertainment area....
Buying orchids for Steve's Mum
Steve's Mum loves orchids, so we thought we would buy her a couple... It has been a pretty stressful year for her so it was nice to get her something nice and something she will enjoy,  Steve also bought me a beautiful yellow orchid (in the photo above)
There were other flower stalls set up as well...
Bonsai Display...
Steve got talking to one of the ladies who was manning the Bonsai Display, and he had an interesting talk to her about her hobby.  There is a lot of work involved in this hobby., where you have to trim the roots of the plants regularly and then repot them all... It is nice to talk to someone who is quite passion about their hobby...

This plant was amazing,..
This plant was amazing and won a special prize at the show... It was flowering profusely,  I have never seen anything like it, it was glorious and I couldn't help but photograph it several times....
Leaving with our purchases...
After the orchid show we decided to go for a bit of a drive and explore some of the beaches in the area... Steve was keep to check our Dundowrin.  He had heard it was a great spot for whiting fishing...
Miles and miles of beaches
From here we drove to Toogoom.  We have been here before and loved it... A small little sleepy fishing village not far from Hervey Bay....
We had not had lunch at this stage so we decided to just have a bit of a snack at Goody's Restaurant and Bar which is right on the beach front....
We stopped here for a snack...
I couldn't help think of my good friend Fay Goody whilst we were here.... and I had to take a photo of the Restaurant to send to her..  Steve managed to have a chat to a fisherman on the jetty...
Imagine living on the water here..
What a gorgeous spot to be.  Steve could think of nothing better than to have a boat ramp in your back yard.
Life at Toogoom....
We had a light snack here...
Diet Pepsi and Hot Chocolate
Garlic Bread and chips
Enjoying an afternoon at the beach...
Love sharing my holidays with this wonderful man....

By now it was close to 4.30pm and we had been out all day.  We thought it was time to head home as I still had washing on the line back at the caravan park....
On our way home we passed this water park at Pialba...
It was free... what a great place to bring kids...
Wet Side at Pialba
Would love to have a family holiday here... So many things you can do as a family...
As we drove along the esplanade, we saw this jetty at Scarness so decided to go for a bit of a walk along it... I was so pleased we did...
A walk out onto the water at Scarness
On the Jetty at Scarness
On the way back to the car we saw all this yarn bombing in the park... I though it was amazing and wanted to photograph it all.  Steve thought I was nuts... Still I did manage to get some photos of it even if it was the wrong time of the day to do it with the sun heading down,
Yarn Bombing in the park at Scarness
More Yarn Bombing...
Whale Festival was even knitted into the yarn bombing...

I really loved seeing this in real life..   I have often seen photos of this sort of thing, but this was the first time I had actually seen it done.... Not sure if they stay up all year or are just put up for this time of the year, but never the less I loved seeing it...

We headed back to the van and got a call from a good friend of ours from Rocky who was also staying down at the Bay for the long weekend, so we decided to catch up for dinner....  Unfortunately the Thai Restaurant we wanted to go to, couldn't accommodate us because they didn't have enough plates.  have you ever heard that before.  There were spare tables, but just not enough plates.  We decided to get take away instead and eat it on the beach.  There was suppose to be a 15 minute wait, we waited an hour and 15 minutes for our order and were starving by the time we got it.  Still it was beautiful food and I can see why they were so popular.  Just need to get some organisation happening in their kitchen though.

It was a great day,  and our night out with Brenda and Adam just capped it all off...
Our last night in the Bay...
Time to pack up tomorrow and head home...
