WELL DONE TO OUR COUNCIL STAFF

Well done to the staff at the council who are working around the clock trying to clean up the debris on the footpaths....
Exactly two weeks after the cyclone, they arrived at our placed to clean up the debris...

The other morning we were awoken to the sounds of trucks in our street, and quickly checked out of our window to see if the rubbish was being collected.  Couldn't see anything so just assumed they were working in a street close by...

Next thing we know it sounded like it was just outside our bedroom window so we opened the blinds and this is what we saw...

Truck collecting all the debris...
Pile of green waste just waiting to be collected...
This was just a little exciting for us, and it meant that I quickly grabbed the camera....
This would have taken us a good half day to load and unload all of this in our trailer and take it to the dump.  These guys had it all done within half an hour...

We filled this truck and as it drove off this one was ready to come in and take it's place...

They have a pretty stream lined operation,  the truck that was just filled took off and it heads to the show grounds where it dumps that load and then comes straight back so it is ready to take the next load when it is loaded...
The refilling starts again
As it gets towards the end, other workers sweep it all up so that the scoop can pick the lot up...

Sweeping it into a pile so that none is missed

Finally it is all picked up and this is how they left our front footpath...
All ready to be mowed this weekend.
It finally feels like we are getting back to normal...
Spent yesterday afternoon mowing the lawn and it now looks good...
Just can't wait for the rest of the debris around town to be picked up...
It is still a constant reminder of the cyclone when you drive around town...
