A HOLIDAY TO CELEBRATE 50 YEARS OF FRIENDSHIP...

One of my dearest friends is up on the Capricorn Coast this week.  She was raised up here on the coast and is back visiting all her old haunts with another one of her close friends.  They met when they were little girls before going to school and they are still very good friends...  they have made the journey this week to reminisce and revisit the places of their youth...

I felt very privileged to have been squeezed into their very busy schedule this week, and it was so good to catch up with them on the weekend.  Barb and I have been close friends now for over 30 years, and I consider myself very blessed to have her friendship.

Another friend of mine Eleonore came for the drive down to the beach to meet up with them for lunch.  We had a great time catching up with many laughs and then some exploring down at Yeppoon.

We came across  this gorgeous homewares shop.  It had some absolutely gorgeous stuff in there.  I have never seen it before and felt a little embarrassed when the owner told me that she had been there for five years...

Chests,  quite a good size,  the roof lifts up so you can store stuff in there....
I couldn't resist taking a photo of this as my nieces are crazy about kombi vans, so I knew that this would appeal to them...
Checking out the shops...

Thought this one was a beauty
Just some of the goodies we saw...
a very blue nautical room
loved this candle holder...
I thought this was a pretty neat candle holder.   Love the timber bottom and wouldn't mind making something like this myself....  They had lots of great ideas using wood...
These wooden Christmas decorations were really lovely, especially the reindeer..
tea for one....
After we left this neat little shop, we headed off down the main street of Yeppoon to explore and reminisce.
Barb in Yeppoon

need buildings and highrises are popping up everywhere...
The landscape has certainly changed in the last 20 years,  and even more so this year with the loss of a lot of the trees, and if they trees are still left standing, they are minus all their leaves and greenery.
With Kym and Barb at Yeppoon.
Blessed to have such good friends in my life...
The new Yeppoon Town Hall
Barb and Kym.... their friendship spans over 50 years...
Wonderful woman, colourful characters, and much fun to be around.
Some old memories for Barb
Still some evidence from Cyclone Marcia...
Main Street in Yeppoon
This poor tree in the Main Street in Yeppoon is definitely got a good lean to it and it has almost been stripped bare....
We found the really cute little Kaboozie shop that I always like to check out when in Yeppoon.  I had thought they must have closed down because the last couple of times I have been down at the coast the shop they used to be in has closed down...

Well I found them again on the weekend... They have just changed shops and moved into the main street, rather than the side street they used to be on.  I love this fairytale little shop... Not that I  buy a lot there I just love to go in and check out all the lovely little knick knacks that they stock.
Love this gorgeous dolly...
It reminds me of a little dolly that I had like this when I was a young girl...
In fact they had lots of things in there that reminded us of our childhood.
The girls were over the moon with their find of these paper dolls
They just had to buy it.   It is the very same little paper dollies they had when they were young, and they played with them together...   We were only talking about these dolls and Barbi dolls over lunch.  In fact Kim even bought a Barbi  from their youth with her for their holiday...
The little gingerbread man and house....
Just some of the little knick knacks  that she has
More goodness...
The girls...
Gorgeous little golliwog.
Lovely rag dollies....
We pretty well parted way after we left this shop.  It was going on to four and Eleonore and I wanted to go through to Emu Park and check out the new Anzac memorial that has just been completed there....
Walking back through the park at Yeppoon...
Perfect day
Boats out on the water
It really was the perfect day.... Lovely blue skies,  blue ocean and white sails bobbing on the water...The water is such a peaceful place to be by...
Yeppoon Beach front...

We had a lovely drive along the beach front all the way to Emu Park.  They have been busy building a lovely memorial boardwalk along the beach at Emu Park right around to the singing ship.  It was only completed a week before Anzac Day, and it is really lovely..

New memorial...
I would love to be here at sunrise this memorial recreates the landing on the beachfront at Gallopoli.  I could imagine that it would be quite moving as we remember those that sacrificed their lives so that we could enjoy the freedom we have today in this country...

It was a lovely afternoon down at the coast....
We really should do it more often...
It is so relaxing to just enjoy the cool breezes, and the sound of the waves washing up along the shore...
