A TRIP TO THE MOUNT

We had a lovely few days with Sarah and Willow when she came home for her 30th Birthday.
She was keen for us to have a family day out so we decided to head up to Mount Morgan for the day.  It must be 15-20 years since we have been there and it is only half an hour or so away....
We had a lovely day... Mount Morgan is quite a tired little town, that needs a lot of maintenance of a lot of their homes, but it is a town rich in history....

We got there a little before lunch and our first stop for the renown  Mount Morgan Bakery... We knew it must be good, because there were a constant stream of people in and out of their doors...
The weather wasn't the best and it was quite cold, so we were happy to have something hot to drink and eat...

Mount Morgan Bakery...
Their pies were pretty amazing and seemed to be pretty popular with all of those that come into the shop...
Willow enjoys her Baby Chino
She loves eating out....
After morning tea we went for a little walk along the main street to check out some of the murals. museums and some of the other lovely old buildings...
Some of the murals around town...
Willow was fascinated by the big dinosaur on the roof on the Museum,  I was more fascinated by the Beauty Salon below...
How's this for a hairdressers...
Quiet a few of the older buildings have this wonderful lattice work around their verandahs.
Main city of Mt. Morgan...
From here we decided to go for a bit of a drive to check out the Gold mine....

We were starting to feel a little hungry, so decided to go and try and find the M-7 Dam so that we could have a picnic lunh

The park was lovely....We were very impressed with the park and their great undercover play areas and sheltered picnic tables.
We had packed a picnic lunch....
Lunch time and the big covered play area...
There were lots of ducks around also, and Willow enjoyed feeding them the crusts fro her sandwiches.  She declared that she loves feeding the ducks.

Lovely egg and lettuce sandwiches with fresh fruit,  some biscuits and tasty sandwiches for lunch...
Willow was fascinated by the rain and wanted to step out with her beach umbrella

Umbrella crazy.... but oh ever so cute..
Love some of these shots of Willow...
Playing in the rain...
We couldn't have picked a better park to have lunch at...
The main play area was under cover,  ideal on a rainy day, so we were able to have a lovely play with Willow without getting wet...
She loves to climb
Having a wonderful time with her Poppy....
Just a bunch of big kids...
enjoying some play time with Mummy...
Reliving their childhood themselves...
Swirling together
Having a wonderful like of this.....
Still a big kid at heart.....
The rain eased and I decided to go for a walk around the  area to check out the lovely parkland.  Definitely a place I would come to again.  Lots of covered picnic areas and one of the biggest undercover children's playground I have seen.  Ideal for wet weather anyway....
Lovely covered picnic areas...

We left the Dam and went for a little drive around town.... and also to check out the Historical Railway Museum...
What really grabbed our attention though was the purple building below.  I don't think I have ever seen a more colourful Centrelink building...

Purple and Blue Centrelink building...
Mount Morgan Railway Station and Historical Museum...

Picnic area around the Historical Railway Museum...
The drive home was much better than the drive up the mount... On our way up it was pouring rain, where the skies had cleared for the drive back...
I have to say though there is something very special about the rain when it comes to the land,  it makes it come alive and the drive home was beautiful, the richness of the greens and browns of the earth were just lovely....  It was worth photographing...
A drive down the range
The land looked rich in colour...
The weather might not have been good, but we actually had a lovely day together...
These are the sort of days that build the wonderful memories we carry through life and I feel extremely blessed to be loved and  surrounded by such wonderful family in my life...
