BEEF WEEK 2015

It happens once every three years and it is a BIG BIG event here....
We took the kids from school this week and had a great time....
So much to do and see and they really cater for school groups...
Just some of the highlights from Beef Week...

Beef 2015
Beef Week has attracted something like 90,000 people through their gates.  That is more than the whole population of our city and is a huge influx of funds into our economy...
It's all about cows and lots of them...
There were all sorts of other weird and wonderful things at Beef 2015 too.
The first area we looked at were all the cattle in their stalls.  There were some magnificent beasts.  Some of the bulls were huge....
Resting cows...
Some of these animals were huge, and when you see them laying down you wonder how on earth they will possibly ever get up again..
Then there were the cute cows with their lovely faces and nose rings...
Such cute faces...
From here we went through some of the pavilions.  There were all sorts of displays from jewellery, to schools. to leather goods, restaurants, water displays and even some wildlife...
Going through the pavilions...

There are all sorts of restaurants out at Beef Week with some world class chefs cooking for them...
In fact one of the girls I work with took long service this year to attend and I know she was going to one of the lunch time restaurant.  The costs were like $150 a head so they would want to be good...
Beef Week Restaurants...
It was amazing the sort of stuff they had on display out there.  Even had helicopters...
Helicopters for sale....
There was heaps there for the kids to do also...
The Beef Train carted them all around the showgrounds...
Catch the Beef Train...

Being the beef capital and Brahman cows are pretty big in CQ... I found this Restaurant name being good..
Which one do you want....
The kids love the whip cracking display....

This guys was really good... He could crack his whips to music and it really sounded good...
The kids loved it..
Live music
There was lots of live music around the different venues and it really added to the atmosphere of Beef Week...
Fiona having a Buckin' Good time..
Luke is determined he will not come off...
The kids loved this buckin' bull, and they all lined up for a turn.
Couldn't include photos of them but I have of a couple of the guys I work with...
The place was full of bulls and cows....  lots of live ones and lots of concrete ones...

I'm pleased I got to go out with the kids....
and it really is a great educational experience for them...
Some of the conversations on the bus going were quite interesting...
We had a couple of 6 year old who were experiencing their first ride on a bus...
Plenty of cold gold for the thirsty
Lots of Colour
Even Humpty Dumpty got to visit...
Well we only have another three years to wait until the next one is town...

Hopefully next time, we might have a little more time up our sleeves to visit for a little longer....
