OUTBACK QLD TRIP - DAY 16 - HOMEWARD BOUND

Our last day of holidays.
Time to pack and head home today...
Feeling a little sad, as we have had such a wonderful time away together.
We did a little packing last night before we went to bed so that we could be up and gone by 9am in the morning.
We wanted to get to Bundy in time to see Steve's mum before she had to be out in the evening...

Packing up the van...
Legs go up....
We had our own ensuite at this park.  It was a really good size.  Photos for Ian and Kathy....
Our ensuite
Unusual shape - toilet area
Good size basin and mirror just as you come through the door.
Large shower with plenty of hot water...
Whilst Steve was finishing off getting the van ready,  I took a couple of photos.
Camp Kitchen...
This camp kitchen is not as good as a lot of the other parks we have been in, and we really didn't get it use it at all.

The caravan park is well laid out with bitumen roads and plenty of green grass.
Behind the caravan park is some wetlands where there is quite a bit of bird life and lots of lillies.
Wetlands behind the caravan park.
Flowers in the gardens...
Just on ready to go...
Our van with our ensuite behind...
You could tell that it was grand final weekend...
Even caravan's in caravan parks celebrate...
Backing both teams....
Our caravan park...
Top Tourist Park too...
Lovely pool area...
Great  pool area for the kids also
We did manage to get away on time.
The traffic was pretty busy,  probably had something to do with the long weekend and also the end of the Qld school holidays.
Miss you guys...
Our friends Ian and Kathy have a Jayco Destiny van, so following this van made us think of you guys, Ian and Kathy and the wonderful time we had with you guys...
Sugar Mill in the background at Childers
Coming up to One Tree Hill
You don't quite notice the one tree on one tree hill these days, now that orchids are being planted in the area.  Once upon a time it used to be all cane paddocks here....
But the richness of the soil around Childers is really rich and very fertile, and where once upon a time it was a very big sugar cane area, more and more orchards and small crop farms are being grown around here now.
Very fertile soil
One side of the highway, the soil is black and the other side it is a rich red...
Very rich dark soil
very rich red soil....
We live in a beautiful colourful country....

Orchards around Childers...
We had a good trip to Bundy...
Fire tower outside Bundy
This tower has a few special memories.  We were at this tower back in 1974 when I met Steve for the first time,
Coming into Bundy....
Welcome to Bundy
We arrived at Steve's parents around 11.30am, a little earlier than we planned.  It was good to have some extra time with Steve's parents.  They had a few jobs for Steve to do whilst he was there.
We parked on the street...

Steve's Mum loves gardening and has some lovely flowers out in her garden at the moment.
She loves to have them photographed so I took a few photos for her...
The orchid we bought for Mum last year when we were at Hervey Bay...

We left Bundy around 2pm for the final leg of our journey home.
I was pretty slack on the last leg of our journey home,  I didn't take any photos...
We arrived home around 5.30pm.
It was a great holiday.
We had done just on 3,000kms in our fortnight away.
It has been a great holiday, and we are looking forward to our next adventure...
