DOING THE CAPRICORN CHRISTMAS TRAIL

Our good friend Marion, was part of the Inner Wheel "Capricorn Christmas Trail" this year, and her home and garden was one of the homes we visited...
She let both Jannett and I know about it, so we organised a car load of us to participate.  It was actually a fund raiser to raise funds to support young homeless girls in town, so it was a good cause...

We all met at our place at 9.45am last Saturday morning,  Jannett was the navigator and I was the driver, and we took off on our jaunt around town to visit the nine home participating in the trail...

We didn't quite do them in the numerical order they are listed here, as we wanted to do the houses on the southside first since this was the side of town we were on.  House No 4 was where we were to have lunch, so we wanted to time it so that we arrived there somewhere between 12 and 1pm.

We had an absolute ball on a day, with lots of laughter and fun as we drove all over town.
It is always fun spending a day with the girls....
The first home on the trail theme was Scottish tartan.  It was beautiful...

I loved the little Scottish dog shortbread biscuits..
Loved the little biscuits that were on the table.  they were little dog shortbread biscuits and they even had the little Scottish ribbon bow on them... Super cute.
Lovely open area home with tartan decorations...
Love the little knitted bagpipe dollies...
Loved the little knitted Scottish bagpiper dollies that were casually laying on the lounge.  It is all the little details that make a lot of these homes really lovely...
The back deck...
I would just love a back deck like this one.... So spacious and it would be a great entertaining area.  The table was beautifully decorated and looked amazing...

What a beautiful view they had from their front verandah also...  It also was all decorated for Christmas and I especially loved their little dogs they had at the front door....
The second house was just around the corner from our place....
It was beautiful... most of the decorations at this home were homemade quilts and they were just exquisite,  the lady who owned this house had them hung throughout.  Her mother had made them.  What a gorgeous heritage to leave for her family.......
Visiting house number two...
The most beautiful hand made quilts...
Beautifully set table for Christmas
One of the things I loved about this home was the stunning Christmas Tree that would have been close to 9ft tall.  It was just beautiful... Also I loved the table setting.  they had used the old ivory handled knives on the table.  I remember getting rid of a whole container of these when we first moved into our home....  Looking back now,  there are many things that we should have kept years ago...

Loved the little Christmas elves they had around the house also...
We were here for just a little over half an hour.  It was so nice too that we were able to use our cameras and photograph the beauty of these places...
Next we are off to House 3.  This was also on our side of town...
In fact it was just around the corner from the house we lived in when we firest moved to Rocky.
Gorgeous home
This house was really shabby Chic, and was just gorgeous... A lot of pretty pink...
Lots of little characters... homemade too...

This home was really beautiful.... Immaculate and had a sewing room that was too die for... Mind you if I had a room like that in my home, I probably wouldn't do a lot of sewing because I wouldn't want to mess it up.
An amazing sewing room...
The decorations here were really pretty and feminine, but it was lovely... Very Shabby Chic...
Lots and lots of Pink...
House No 4 was out of town a bit, and it was where we were to have our Christmas lunch....
It was set on quite a few acres with a lovely little dam and wetlands.  Also set up up there were some little stalls you could spend money at....
House No 4 was out of Town...
The magpie geese migrate here each year,....
There were hundreds of them, and we were told there were three times as  many in the previous years...

Fairy House....

This really was a lovely home, and we were able to raise quite a bit of cash towards our chosen charity... This was a three level home. and was just gorgeous...
The entry of the home
The above photos were taken in the entry and foyer of this home.  It was just gorgeous...
From here we went up into the formal area of the home to see the beautiful dining room and lounge room all decorated for Christmas....
The dining room was pretty in Pink...
The main lounge room had a beautiful brick open fireplace...  It reminded me of home and us hanging our Christmas stockings hanging in  front of it.
The richness of the Christmas colours....
This was our lunch stop too.  We had lovely ham and cranberry rolls, put plum pudding and custard and some Christmas goodies in the same of Rum balls and fudge....  All very nice, and very tasty...
We spent a good hour and a half out here before taking off again.....
Lunch at Alton Downs....
House 5 was our friend Marion's place.  It was her garden which was on display and it was stunning... full of colour, and Marion always takes care of the little details.
Arriving at House No 5.....
Down the cobbled path
Marion's garden is a relatively new garden.  All the work done here has been done in the last three years, and it is absolutely stunning...  She even went to the trouble of decorating  our coffee cups.  Just beautiful, and ones that none of us wanted to dispose of ......
Morning Tea
Then it was out into the back yard.....
Marion's late husband made these amazing gates for her....
Marion's garden was just delightful,  a real little paradise with lots of lovely bright colours and quirky bits and pieces through....  It doesn't matter where you look,  you can always find something intriguing.

House 6 was the first house we visited on the Northside....
It's them was birds and babbles, and it really was quite lovely....
House 6...

House No 7 was just gardens...
So different to Marion's gardens which were full of flowers and lots of colour...
This wasn't colourful, but had some amazing sculptured animals and boah trees etc.
There were acres of land here,  beautiful big grounds to walk around....
House No 7 had all these animals in their gardens,,,

The girls were quite relaxed along the fence whilst they waited for Sue and I to get to the car...
The next house, was also about the gardens,  but the gardens were full of teddy bears,  partying, playing, fishing,  and you wandered throughout the garden observing all the exciting things the teddy bears were doing.
House No 8...
Walking through the gardens and visiting the teddy bears....

Love these picnic photos... They also had a teddy bear frieze along the concrete on the ground also.
Teddy bears fishing...
Tea Parties and teddies..
Backyard Bear antics....
Story time with the bears...
Our final house was way out the other side of town....
If we had to miss one, this would have been the one to miss...
It didn't have the number of rooms decorated as most of the other homes..
House No. 9

What a great day it had been... We had been on the road together  since 9.40 am  and it was after 4.30pm before we arrived home again.

Definitely think we will book to do the next one...
