HER 3RD BIRTHDAY PARTY....

Can't believe this little munchkin has turned three....
Where have those years gone....
There was no big party this year...
Just family and a couple of friends...
That still didn't stop us from having it at the park....
We decorated the shelter shed and then the rain came..
Bucketing down....
Massive storm...
Do we stay and ride it out or head for home...
Checked the BOM site and realized that it is probably only going to last for an hour or so, so we decided to continue to have a wet party at the park....
Sarah and I finished off Willow's birthday cake on the Friday night and I blew up a heap of balloons so that we could take them to the park and tie them up to the shelter shed.

Party balloons ready to take to the park....
We weren't the only ones having a party at the park....
Willow had dancing at 8am, so off we trooped to drop her at dancing.  (Thankfully it is held in the hall at the park anyway) so whilst she was in there, I headed up and grabbed a spot and tied all the balloons up...
By this stage, her half hour dancing lesson was almost over so it was time to walk back down to collect her and bring her back to help me finish decorating for her party.....
Helping take the balloons out to put them in the car...
Fun with all the balloons...
It was starting to spit with rain as we walked back up from dancing....
The sky was getting blacker and blacker too so we knew we were in for a down pour....
What do you do with a three year old who is real keen to go play in the playground when you know it is about to bucket down...
You try and distract her so that you can keep her close by.....
Time to get Willow to help me decorate around the poles of the shelter shed for her birthday...
She did a great job.....
All decorated waiting for everyone to turn up...
Pouring with rain.....
Some how I think everyone is going to arrive late...
Who would even try to come out in this weather....
It was interesting trying to keep dry as the wind was blowing the rain right into the shelter shed...
Good thing we chose to set up on the tables we did, as the first table was saturated with water and we couldn't even put the presents on it....

Everyone arrived about half an hour late...
Mean while,  Willow and I had been up there for over two hours waiting for everyone to come...
She was so excited about her party because to her it was all about lollies and cakes...
If you asked her what she wanted for her birthday,  it was just lollies...
She doesn't normally get to eat too many, so she was pretty excited that she was going to be allowed to have them on her birthday...
Her request for her cake was even a lolly cake and her Mum did an amazing job....
Whilst we were at Dreamworld,  Sarah spent the day making Willow an amazing Pinata cake.... full of lollies and spray painting a little hammer gold to hit the chocolate case with...
We decorated it then that night when Willow went to bed.....
Chocolate casing for Willow's birthday cake....

The next morning whilst we were up at the park trying to decorate,  Sarah worked on the second half of Willow's birthday cake....
The cake underneath which was just loaded with chocolates...
By the time Sarah got to the park, it was time to put it all together...
It was still raining when everyone got there but not quite as heavy...
Still way to heavy to go out and play, so we all sat underneath the shed and chatted whilst the kids devoured the lollies......
It was almost as if Willow had never tasted a lolly in her life.....
A fist full or them
Between Willow, Judah and Chad they pretty much cleaned up this whole jar...
Thinking all her Christmases had come at once...
Time to smash the cake and blow out her candle.....
Ready to smash.....
She gets her little hammer and try and try as she might, she had a lot of trouble cracking the chocolate....
Smashing the cake.....
Hard work....
Not too much luck cracking it...
The funny thing was, that although she wasn't having much success cracking the chocolate she was having a lot of success at hitting the chocolates on the shell and they were starting to fly everywhere....
Finally cracked.....
Breaking it apart....
What is this pinata made off...
It certainly doesn't want to break....
Finally......
No wonder it wouldn't crack...
Poor Willow,  no wonder the darn thing wouldn't crack,  the chocolate was a could of centimeters thick in places and all she had was a little plastic hammer....
Look at that cake loaded with lollies on the inside...
Hoeing into the chocolate already....
Getting ready to blow out her candle....
Mummy lighting her candle.
Blowing out her candle...
Ready to light her candles again...
Keen to cut her cake and start eating the lollies...
Mummy helping her cut the cake....
Got to kiss the closest boy....
Good thing that Daddy was standing right next to her, so he managed to get the big kiss...

Not so much interested in the cake,  but chocolates please....
Taking the wrapping off her chocolate coin...
Pretty happy with herself...
All she wanted for her birthday was cake and lollies...
She was one very happy little girl....
Which ones am I going to have...
No to sample that wonderful cake...
It was multi coloured inside...
It was all about the lollies.... she has a mouth full...
Not too much actual cake got eaten...
This party was more about the lollies...
Willow loved her cake and licked every last ounce of icing and all all the lollies and then handed the cake back to her mum....
As grandparents we all thought it was super cute.....
Could not believe how obsessed by the lollies she was....

By now the rain had stopped but everything was pretty wet...
There were a few ibises about and a few birds in general, and all the kids wanted to do was chase the birds...
We tried to get Willow to open her presents, but she wasn't interested in the slightest in opening gifts...
As far as she was concerned,  birthdays had nothing to do with gifts but were all about cakes and lollies and she had plenty of those.....

She was quite funny...
She was very happy to run around and play with her little friends, but when it was time to pack up and go home, she became very very possessive with her birthday cake,  not wanting her mum to pack it in the car at all...
She had her hands around the cake trying to protect it, telling us that it was her cake and she wanted to keep eating it....
Mind you it wasn't that she was eating the cake itself, but she was having a field day with all the icing and the chocolates....
That icing is so good....
Getting quite protective of her cake...
"No mummy it is my cake....."
Don't take it Mummy
I want my cake...
No no no Mummy
What a precious funny child....
What a wonderful day full of wonderful memories....
Oh to be three again....
Life is full of adventure when you are three....
