AN AFTERNOON ON THE ESPLANADE

We love coming here for Easter, and it is even better now that we have grandchildren to bring with us.  There are so many lovely walks and playgrounds  here and we always enjoy a walk down to the playground for a play and often a BBQ.  The adults enjoy it as much as the kids and the skateboards all come out, with bikes and scooters.

Heading down to the park
Elia was so cute riding his scooter
Sarah lent Barry her rip stick....
I reckon next year he will have his own...
He took to it like a duck to water.....
Barry enjoying ripsticking...
The children really enjoyed their play in the playground too...
There were swings,  slides, flying foxes and they had a ball on all of them...
Kathy giving Willow a swing...
Swing me higher... higher.....higher......
Elia pretended that he was flying....
Superman.... total trust in his dad....
Adam likes to come down with us on his scooter...  He is great with the kids and will give them rides if they get too tired.....
Adam
The kids had a ball playing on the slide...
crawling up to catch up to his dad...

Loving the slide
Life is great at 2
Bit squishy Barry.... but Dad had to try it too.

This is what I love about being a grandparent again.  You get to relive a bit of your own childhood and that of your children as well, but are not under the same time restraints as what you were when your children were young.

They have an awesome flying fox in the park here also and it was great to see Willow on it this year.  Last year we had to help her all the way,   This year she had no fear and was happy to do it all independently.  We just had to hold it initially for her to swing herself up onto it.  But then she was off.  Elia on the other hand was happy to have a go, but was not quite sure that he liked it.

Willow.... totally different story, in tact we had trouble getting her off it.

Kathy holding it for Willow to climb up on.
She is off
She went flying down to the other end....
Didn't worry her at all that she went swinging up into the air when she hit the other end.
Elia's turn.... but you were not allowed to let go ,  he felt more secure if you were going along side of him.
Loving it but not in a hurry to repeat the experience.
Off she goes again...
The same cannot be said for Willow,  she was happy to go on it time and time again,  in fact she really didn't want to hop off it to come home.

Do I really have to go home....
The kids had a great time up here.  We were really hoping to tire them out so that they would settle pretty quickly tonight.....
We had had a few rough nights with sick children, so Sarah in particular was hoping for a good night sleep tonight....  With all the exercise and running around we wondered how they would go on the big walk home.  Thankfully they had their scooters to help

 Heading home......
Other than all the sickness it still has been a great week....
