SPECIAL DAY WITH PETE

Special time with a special son.
Today we got to spend the whole day with Pete....
It was a little emotional this morning as we had a huge surprise for Peter.
Pete did not expect to see his Dad this visit as Steve has been very busy at work, and as we were going to Denmark to see him in a couple of weeks, he wasn't going to be able to take the time off to head to Brissie for a couple of days....

This was the plan until his boss told him to take the time off....
We decided not to let Pete know and just keep Steve's visit down to Brissie a surprise for him.
It was a surprise to Willow also, but more about that later....

Pete walked in the door at Sarah's to find Steve standing there waiting for him, and he lost it,  such an emotional moment, and one we will always savour in our memories.... It is obvious that we are missed and loved, and the feeling is definitely mutual.  It was so nice to have a few days with Pete to just chat and relax.  I am guessing that we will not have a lot of time to do that when we are over in Denmark because of the number of us all going over....

We spent the morning just chatting together.  Sarah, Colin and the children had all gone to church, so it was just the three of us and it was wonderful.

It was hard to get Willow to go with her Mum and Dad as she was just so excited to have her Poppy down.  I had told her the night before that someone special was going to be there in the morning, as she wanted to know why I wasn't going to be sleeping in her bed.  She tried to guess for ages who it was going to be, thinking it might be her Aunty Maria, or Dudi or Hanna ( she is very exciting about going to visit them all in Denmark later this month.

In fact she was so excited about the special visitor coming that she was awake and out to me at 4.50am just to see if they had arrived.  She was over the moon to see that it was her Poppy and was his shadow for the rest of the day...

Pete wanted to drive up to the Sunshine Coast to see his grandfather and also just to go sit and walk on an Aussie Beach, so we waited until Willow got home and took her for the drive with us.

We totally surprised my Dad as he had no idea we were coming but it also made his day... He was so happy and excited to see us that he even came down onto the beach with us.  (Something he hasn't done for a long while)

Having fun with Poppy climbing a tree.

Heading down to the beach
Come on Moppy.... you need to catch up..
One of the things I wanted to do was grab a photo of the three very special men in my life, and there was no where better to do it than down on an Aussie beach....  so peaceful and so beautiful.
The three most important men in my life.
Someone whated to be included in the photo.... No show without Willow
It was the perfect day to be in the beach, and Pete relished every moment he spent there.
Perfect day to special on a gorgeous beach

Almost had it to ourselves....
There is no where in Europe that has such an isolated beach on such a perfect day.  The beaches over there are no where near as nice and they are usually packed with people, so this time on the beach was quite special for Pete....

Enjoying the moments...
enjoying the solitude

Taking it all in and storing it in one's memory... who knows when I will be back here again...
Storing it all in my memory as well
a solitary figure on the beach.... alone in his own thoughts....
It was time to join us all again...
So so solitary for Willow,  she loved running up and down the sand dunes and admiring the pretty flowers that grew along the shore line...

A wonderful place is the beach...
Here I come Moppy
It really was a magical day...
I am so grateful for all that is in my life...
Not just the wonderful people, but this wonderful country in which I live.

I clearly remember standing here feeling overwhelmed with gratitude for all the good that is in my life....

 Just feeling so incredibly blessed..
with my little Princess
enjoying the moments....
we decided to take Willow up to the playground to give Pete a bit of additional alone time on the beach...
She had seen the playground on our way down to the beach and was keen for a play..

heading back to the play area
our playground...
Poppy was still definitely the person of the day, so she was keen for him to play on all the equipment with her.  That suited me fine, as I was happy to admire the beautiful Australian Native flowers flowering in the park...

Meanwhile I was happy to wander around admiring and photographing these beautiful flowers...

Beautiful day enjoyed by us all..
We ended up leaving the coast around 4pm,  the traffic back to Brissie was bumper to bumper so we decided to drive the scenic route up around Beerwah.  We weren't in a huge hurry and we didn't have to deal with bumper to bumper traffic which was just crawling along at a snail's pace on the motorway.

We arrived home at dinner time.
These are the sort of days I treasure...
