DAY 149 – ON THE ROAD AGAIN TODAY TO VENUS BAY….

Venus Bay is only 70kms down the road from us, and as we can’t get into the caravan park until 10.30am, we were able to have a bit of a leisurely start to the day.
Streaky Bay Hotel

We were ready to leave by 9am and drove into Streaky Bay as I wanted to take a photo of the Hotel, and Steve and I both wanted to go for a walk along the Streaky Bay Jetty.

It was quite an interesting jetty with lots of plagues to read along it.  Some have been placed by businesses, others by families that had enjoyed holidaying at Streaky Bay over the years.  Others still,  had been places as memorials to family members who had passed on.  I get the feeling that people have contributed to the upkeep of the jetty, and for their donation they get to have a plague attached to the jetty.

Ian and Kathy weren’t quite ready when we left, so we arranged to meet them at Bay Funktion Café for morning tea.
When we had met Nick and Melissa on Saturday, they had told us about this really funky little café in Streaky Bay and told us we must check it out.  As it was closed Sunday, the only way we could visit it was first thing before leaving Streaky Bay this morning.

It was a great little café as well as a gift shop and florist, and it was definitely worth the visit.  We found the little back room which had a lovely feel to it and enjoyed our hot drink out the back.  So glad they had recommended it to us.

We left Streaky Bay by 10.30am and headed straight to Venus Bay.  Venus Bay has a population of only 30, so it is only a village with no much else to do there but fish.

It was quite a decent little caravan park and we were able to remain hitched overnight.  We also were able to park our vans so that they were facing each other.  We had a lovely shady tree between us so set up our table and chairs there and had lunch.

Both the boys spent the afternoon fishing out on the jetty, whilst Kathy and I sat and had a good chin way.  It was a great place to relax.  I am enjoying this slower pace as we travel down the Eyre Peninsula.  The boys were gone for a few hours, so we were very hopeful of them catching us a feed for dinner…
.
Not so, they didn’t catch a thing…. And this is supposed to be the best spot along this coast for fishing.  To say they were disappointed was an understatement.
