MOTHER'S DAY 2018

I am behind once again but it has been a huge week with lots happening....

We had a pretty quite Mother's Day this year... No children at home, but I am not complaining since I had seen the girls the previous weekend.

We went to church and the Mother's were spoilt this year with a little posy of flowers and a bath bomb made by some of the younger girls....

Spoilt at Church this morning.

We were going to head straight down to the coast for lunch but after church Steve made up an excuse to go home before heading down.  It needed to be a good excuse because we had to go right back across the other side of town and that retrace our steps to go to the coast...

Chloe had been on the phone to her Day to let him know that they had sent me a lovely bouquet of flowers for Mother's Day and they were probably sitting out at our front door.  He made up some excuse about no remembering whether he had left the door open before we left that morning and he wouldn't feel easy until he had checked at home first.....

I stayed in the car when we got home,  I mean he was only going to check to see that the door was closed.   The next minute he was back out at the car with these,,,,
Beaautiful flowers from Dan and Chloe
What an absolute beautiful surprise and it really made my day guys....
Once we had safely put them back inside we headed off down to the coast...
I don't know,  since doing our big trip around Australia,  I have a longing to be near the sea....
It ocean has always had the power to calm me and keep me grounded and I have missed spending time near it since arriving back home...

On our way into Yeppoon we came across these caravans,  unlike any we had seen before on all of our travels, and there were two of them.  They were both from WA so we gathered they were travelling together.   Steve was pretty impressed with the way they were set up for storage so of course we took a few photos.
Even storage on the side for fuel and diesel.
Even a spot to attach the boat motor...
Even had a boat on top
We decided to have lunch at a little coffee bar called "Whisk".  Our friends John and Barb had lunch there when they were up a few weeks earlier and raved about it, so thought it might be a nice spot to stop and have lunch.  It was  very busy which is usually a good sign that a place is good, and it was.
Enjoyed a lovely Mother's Day lunch here...
Just across the road from where we parked out car we noticed some yarn bombing, and as Barb and I had spent quite a bit of time crocheting for the Maleny Knitfest a few weeks earlier, I was keen to take a photo of two and send them to her to show her that we even had a bit of it here in Yeppoon.

Then it was back across the road for our lunch...and what a lunch it was....
I enjoyed a beef burger with wombok on charcoal  bread with sweet potato fries and Steve had the Pork Belly Burger with sweet potatoes wedges.  It was delicious and a special put on for Mother's Day.  Wish it was on their menu all the time...
Lunch out with my man.
The place was full.
Hot chocolate
This one tastes real good...
A little bit of Mother's Day love

There have been so many changes on the coast since we left for our big trip, so we thought we would have a good look around Yeppoon, as we had been told that there was some lovely art work in the new high rise car parking that had been built just off the beach front to cater for the tourist down there whilst they redeveloped the beach front.   So many good things happening down the coast..
There is still an awful lot of work being done on the Yeppoon Esplanade and foreshore,  I am sure it will look amazing once it is all finished.

Yeppoon Beachfront
The place we wanted to check out the most though was the new Waterfront Lagoon at Yeppoon.  it had only been opened for a week, and we were keen to see it as we had heard lots of great reviews about it.  It certainly did not disappoint us.

Funny the people you meet when you are at the coast...
They even have wheelchair access into the lagoon
Lovely outdoor showes
The lagoon area is also attached to a great kids playing park as well as a skate bowl and it was a hive of activity when we were down there.  The artwork on the old toilet block there is really lovely also.  I can see that this is going to become a very popular area particularly in the summer months.  In fact I can't wait to bring our grandchildren down here for the day...

The art work on the old toilet block at the park is really well done.
Meanwhile, whilst we were at Yeppoon celebrating and enjoying Mother's Day, Chloe and Brenda (Sarah's sister-in-law) had taken her out to celebrate Mother's Day as her husband has been away overseas for the last two weeks, and the girls wanted to make her day special as well.
They had a lovely time in the park together.

Nibblies in the park
So good that the girls are now in Brissie together and get to see each other more regularly.
Meanwhile we had a guest coming to stay for the week whilst she had a res school in Rocky and she was due to arrive around 4pm.  We actually left the coast closer to 4pm and she had already arrived but wanted to head out to the Uni and check out where she needed to be the following morning so she was quite happy for us to take our time getting home.

Once again I was spoilt by Majella with a lovely bunch of flowers as a thank you for having her for the week.  Not often do I get flowers and this weekend my table is full of them....
And just to top the day off, we had a wonderful long Facetime call with my son and daughter-in-law on the other side of the world...
How blessed am I...
I feel so incredibly grateful for the wonderful family that I have.  I am blessed beyond measure....
