A FAMILY DAY AT SOUTHBANK....

On the Saturday we decided to have a family picnic at Southbank... Sarah had read up about a family fun day there so thought it might be fun to take the children there...

We also had planned to go into the city on the train... Max loves trains so thought it would be a treat for him.  We drove into Chloe and Dan's and were going to catch the train from there....
Unfortunately their train was closed for the weekend due to maintenanceso in the end we had to catch a bus in...

Waiting for the bus at the bus stop..
We had about a three block walk to the bus stop and then had about a 15 minute wait until the next bus.  Even though the children were looking forward to the train ride, the kids love buses almost as much so they were pretty keen to catch it.  Willow especially was excited because now that she is at school she needs her own Go Card, so she feels very grown up and gets to check on and off the bus herself...
Arrived in at Southbank
Markets at Southbank
We arrived in at Southbank and walked down through the crowds.  It was pretty busy today with not only family activities being held there but the markets were in full swing also....
We were all pretty hungry so headed to Nando's where we ordered some lunch to take away...
Lunch on the grass...
Enjoying chips for lunch
Fun with Aunty Chloe

After our lunch we wandered down towards the threatre's and galleries where their seemed to be a lot of family fun activities happening...
One of the displays that particularly caught Willows eye was a STEM  exhibition.  She was really interested in the robotics and spent a little  time learning how to maneuver the robats and move them around.  It didn't take her long too pick it all up after being shown by the designer.  It never ceases to amaze me at how quickly kids pick up technology these days.
Bring dhoen hoe yo use the iPad to control the robots.
So engrossed...
From here we ,moved on to watch the Chinese Dragons perform..
Then we had a lot of fun with the big Brisbane sign on the riverbank.  The kids loved crawling all over it.....
Loved seeing so many people outdoors enjoying our beautiful weather, and the weather was perfect...

The kids loved seeing the different dressed characters just roaming around the precinct...
Willow even managed to have her photo taken with Mr. Incredible...
Just chilling and relaxing in the park...
Treat for the kids comes in form of fairy floss.....  This is a real treat for her and she is so kind hearted, she shared it all with her brother...
Fairy floss treat

I have just totally enjoyed being out on the riverbank on such a gorgeous day. Loved being with the family..
Cruising down the Brisbane River...

We left here and walked back to the best stop where we caught the bus into Brisbane CBD.  Sarah was keen to get a fruit Juice from the Oasis Bar in town...
Mango and Passionfruit and it was delicious...
Great way to end our perfect day,  We all ended up back at Dan and Chloe's where Dan took charge of the kitchen and cooked us a wonderful healthy meal for dinner....
Healthy dinner after a great day out..
Lovely way to end a very special family day out and about in Brisbane...
Feel so blessed to be doing life with this great bunch of human beings.  Feel so spoilt and feeling ever so grateful that not only are these guys family but the best friends one could have as well.
