CHECKING OUT A NEW DAY CARE CENTRE

Sarah is looking at putting Max into Daycare for a day or two in the near future....
There is a new centre opening near to her and they have just held an open day.
Sarah thought she would go and check it out as it is on the way to Willow's school so is really in a handy location to take both kids at the same time...

To say she was impressed would be an understatement.  It is a brand new centre with amazing facilities, even a pool and waterfall, an they even have swimming lessons as part of their program.

It endorses the Reggio Emilia Approach to education.  This approach was first developed in Italy post World War II and is at the forefront of early childhood education.

It fosters the belief that the child, parent, community and natural environment are all essential to the learning process. Reggio Emilia has strong roots within nature and focuses on a learning environment enriched with creative and sensory experiences as avenues for growth allowing every child to reach their true potential.

This is definitely a philosophy that I agree with also, as working in Education, you can see that most of our young students still need to be out playing,  they need to be building and solving problems, especially our boys...  They are not interested in sitting behind a desk and learning... and it worries me that we are setting our boys in particular up for failure....

Anyway this new child care centre looks amazing... Here are some photos of the kids enjoying their day at their open day.  It was all free, rides, fairy floss, face painting, sausage sizzles, balloon art, petting zoo and Sarah had a hard time getting them to leave.....

They loved their face painting...
Our little tiger man...
The outdoor play area was amazing....

Their pool and water fall area -  amazing facilities
Play equipment..
The indoor play area was so new, spacious, fabulous lighting and very inspiring for the children..
Indoors
Max was in his element...
He loved playing with the dinosaurs
they also had a petting zoo in for their open day and the children loved feeding them and petting them...
They even had life size characters from Pepper Pig and Paw Control wandering around with the children.
Max and Willow having their photo taken with some of their favourite characters.
They loved their balloon art too.... They were so creative and like nothing the kids had seen before.  They were so excited with them, and actually had to facetime us to show us them.

Max had a penguin...
Willows was a monkey in a tree....

The only draw back for Sarah was that she really only wanted to put Max into Day care for one day a week, but at this new centre, they only take them for a minimum of two days a week....
I am sure Max would love it here if they manage to get in.  I know I love the Reggio Emilia philosophy so would love to see Max go here...
